The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 255

Pursing her lips, Evelyn looked back at the pool of blood on the ground. It was clear the injury wasn't minor.

She rubbed her temples wearily. Then, she finally replied, "Yeah, thank you."

The Millers handled the incident as quickly as possible. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the malfunction had indeed been caused by an error in the navigation system, which later led to a loss of control.

Calming everyone down, Nathan mentioned, "Try to suppress this matter. We'll

visit Mr. Grant another day to apologize in person."

After leaving the Miller residence, Evelyn furrowed her brows for the entire journey.

She checked the time. It was already 9:30 pm. She didn't know which hospital Lucas had been taken to, nor did she know how he was doing.

She couldn't help but feel complicated about such a huge thing happening. In the three years they had been together, she had never seen Lucas experience such an embarrassing moment.

Whether he had meant to save Tiffany and ended up choosing the wrong person due to limited visibility, the fact remained that he had shielded Evelyn from injury. With her current physical condition, she wouldn't have been able to withstand such an impact.

After thinking it over for a while, she decided to call and ask about his condition. However, the call didn't go through. In the end, the call started with, "The number you are trying to reach is currently on another call. Please try again later..."

Evelyn guessed someone must have cut off the call on purpose, so she didn't try again. Instead, she checked the calendar.

Tomorrow was the day they could officially collect the divorce certificate.

However, with Lucas in this condition... She frowned and decisively sent Jason a WhatsApp message, asking which hospital Lucas was at.

At the hospital, Tiffany had been keeping watch for over two hours after Lucas was wheeled into his room after surgery.

Mason and Jason had come by to accompany them for a while.noveldrama

During that time, Maria somehow caught wind of the injury and called, saying she was already on her way from Grant Manor.

Lucas then dismissed everyone.

Mason and the others were told to send Tiffany home first. Lucas had received 23 stitches in his right arm, and a hairline fracture in the bone meant he would need to have bed rest for some time.

By the time Maria arrived, Lucas was sitting in bed, working on his laptop. His arm was tightly bandaged, and his palm and fingers were abraded.

Maria's expression changed the moment she saw him. "How is it? What did the doctor say?"

Lucas closed his laptop, looking rather calm. "It's nothing serious. I just need some time to recover."

"You call having surgery 'nothing serious'?" Maria glared at him, furious. "Don't think you can fool me. I just got off the phone with Nathan-he told me you're seriously injured. And he also said..."

She took a deep breath, her expression growing darker. "He said a lady with the last name of Moore was with you, too. Care to explain what's going on, Lucas?"

Nathan must have given her a general idea. Naturally, he also mentioned Evelyn.

However, Nathan's exact words were, "Lucas originally meant to protect Ms. Moore, but something went wrong in the heat of the moment."

Even with just that, she could already guess most of the situation.

Lucas looked up at her with an indifferent gaze, saying nothing. He had no intention of explaining.

Maria was furious, caught between her heartache over his injury and anger over the presence of another woman she didn't recognize. "I'm telling you right now— whatever this Ms. Moore situation is, you'd better resolve it."

She then added, "Lucas, I won't allow you to let Evie down!"
