Chapter 254
Evelyn's eyes widened sharply. Amid the sound of wind created by the propeller, the high-speed rotor approached rapidly.
She abruptly tried taking a step back, but a shadow suddenly loomed over her. In the next instant, she was swept into a warm, firm embrace, and the person holding her swiftly dodged to the side.
At the same time, a chorus of gasps rang out.
The drone was quickly brought under control and landed beneath the corridor.
Evelyn hadn't yet regained her composure when she heard Tiffany's anxious voice ring in her ears.
"Lucas! Are you okay?"
Only then did Evelyn open her eyes in shock to meet Lucas' gaze.
His brows were tightly furrowed, his expression was ugly, and his pupils were slightly dilated. This was the first time she saw Lucas with such a cold, terrifying expression.
He quickly released her upon seeing her surprise.
The moment Lucas stood up, Evelyn noticed the sleeve of his right arm had been completely shredded by the rotors. Blood streamed down his arm, pooling quickly on the ground. Even his palm and fingertips were marked with cuts and abrasions.
Tiffany ran over, face pale. "Lucas, are you seriously hurt?"
Mason and the others rushed over, their expressions dark.
"What happened? Why did you suddenly..." Mason glanced at Evelyn, hesitating mid-sentence as he looked at Lucas.
Why would Lucas risk his life to save Evelyn?
Brandon and the rest also arrived, their expressions finally turning grave.
"Ms. Moore was standing close to Evelyn just now. Mr. Grant must've grabbed the wrong person," Brandon mentioned, offering the only explanation he could think of.
Only then did those nearby begin to realize that Lucas had been standing close to both Evelyn and Tiffany.
The drone was plunging at them, blocking the light and his line of sight, so he could only rely on his intuition.
Lucas' brows remained deeply furrowed, but he didn't refute the claim. He turned slightly and looked at Tiffany, his voice lowered a few notches. "Are you okay?"
Tiffany shook her head, pale-faced. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me."noveldrama
He didn't spare Evelyn another glance. It was as if what had just happened was truly a mistake made during an emergency.
Harry stepped forward and examined Lucas' wound, quickly performing basic first aid. "He needs to go to the hospital. The wound is very deep. It could be close to the bone."
Brandon immediately arranged a car. "Take Mr. Grant to the hospital!"
The scene was chaotic.
Sebastian rushed over, face ashen, and checked Evelyn from head to toe. She hadn't sustained a single injury-not even the faintest scratch.
Bill and Nathan both rushed over. Nathan, seasoned in handling emergencies, quickly gave orders to bring order to the scene.
Bill glanced at Evelyn. "Ms. Reed, are you alright?"
Evelyn finally took a deep breath and replied, "I'm fine."
He nodded and immediately went to arrange for a clear path to get the injured to the hospital.
The car arrived quickly, and Lucas was helped into the vehicle. With the crowd surging around her, Evelyn was bumped into a few times as she stood still.
Tiffany held tightly onto Lucas. Just before getting into the car, she suddenly turned her head and shot Evelyn a frigid look. She said nothing, then got into the car with Lucas.
Evelyn didn't miss the look she shot at her. She could more or less guess what Tiffany was thinking.
Tiffany cared about Lucas. Naturally, she'd place the blame on Evelyn.
Jonathan squeezed in from behind, still shaken.
"Even if Mr. Grant saved the wrong person, at least he ended up saving Ms. Reed. Otherwise, Ms. Reed's small frame wouldn't have stood a chance against a drone that heavy. In any case, it shows Mr. Grant and Ms. Moore have a deep bond."
And luckily, Tiffany hadn't been injured. Otherwise, Lucas would probably feel endlessly guilty for saving the wrong person.
Sebastian pressed his lips tightly together and gave Evelyn a worried look. However, she wasn't affected by any of those remarks since she knew they were true.
Jason wasn't in a rush to leave. In the end, he came over to look at Evelyn, comforting her, "You don't need to worry. It'll be fine."
What do you think?
