Legendary Football Superstar

Chapter 053: Seeking Victory in Danger

Luke stepped up, right behind his O-line, with the crowd going nuts, chanting, "Bambi! Bambi! Bambi!" The Rose Bowl was lit, like it hadn't just been through a whole game. Everyone was hyped, waiting for Luke to do his thing and snag that win.

Luke zoned in, the cheers still loud as ever, but his mind was chill. He could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins.

Read the defense, read the defense, read the defense.

The Badgers' D was still sticking to their zone defense. Luke wasn't sure why-maybe they thought it would still work, or maybe they were out of ideas. Either way, it was good news for him!

Backpedal, quick backpedal. Luke caught Justin switching up his blitz, but the intent was clear. Nelson and Eddie teamed up to block him, and the rest of the D was all over the place. The Bruins' O-line held them off, with a little help from Marcus.

More importantly, Luke saw the receivers' routes. But dang, the zone D was tighter than expected, no gaps anywhere!

John had a defender lurking two yards away; Logan had one five yards to the left and three to the right; Cory Harkey had a guy three steps ahead; and Christian Yount was deep in the short pass zone.

Marcus? He was busy blocking.

Crap, they cut down on blitzers and beefed up the zone D, making it a minefield for passing.

One second, two seconds, three seconds.

Time was ticking, and the pocket was collapsing fast. No one had broken through to hit Luke yet, but he had no room to throw. So, he just went for it and launched the football.

Sure enough, the pocket caved in, squishing Luke in the middle. Defenders were all over thin, sräppningitis tennettartor's rounders, it yigitriness-upritlerpass or justtåre him down.

The ball was in the air. How was the pass?

Everyone's eyes were glued to the football. The D read the route and pounced: Logan Newman! Luke's go-to guy and the Bruins' offensive star.

Logan sprinted, but two defenders were closing in from the sides, and another was rushing to help, trapping him in a three-way squeeze.

Logan stayed cool, eyes on the pass, peripheral vision tracking the defenders. The guy on his right was just two steps away, bumping him to throw him off balance.

But both were running full speed, and the hits were shaky. Logan, being a big dude, wasn't fazed, keeping his stride steady.

In a flash, the pass was there. Logan reached up, snatching the ball above the defender's head. Another hand shot out from behind, trying to knock it loose. Another defender had joined the party.

"No open targets, Badgers' D is tight, Luke throws under pressure," Kirk's commentary flowed, "Logan! Luke hits his main man, Logan Newman. Three defenders on him, Logan leaps, grabs the ball above the defender's head! Wow, Logan's got it! Despite three guys on him, and another trying to mess up the catch, Logan holds on! No problem, ref confirms, it's a catch!"

"Let's run that back! The Badgers' zone D had every receiver on lockdown. In the end, Luke went with his most reliable guy, Logan Newman. It was a 21-yard pass with zero room to breathe. Logan, surrounded by three defenders, made a killer catch. They tried everything-blocking, hitting, disrupting-but Logan still snagged it! Pure brilliance!"

"In crunch time, Luke and Logan made magic happen. No fancy plays, just raw talent. The Bruins pushed forward, an insane advance!"

Kirk's voice was hoarse but buzzing with excitement. The whole commentary booth was electric. The Bruins had turned an impossible situation into a game-changer.

This wasn't just about a catch or a 21-yard pass. In under six seconds, they had stormed into the opponent's half, now at the 43-yard line! Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat!

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!

John and the crew rushed in, shoving Badgers' defenders aside, then yanked Logan up. Everyone was shouting, "Way to go, man! Great job!"

But Logan brushed them off, grinning as he sprinted towards Luke. Eyes wide, mouth open, he rushed up, and he and Luke jumped, chest-bumping like the Hulk.

It was a gamble, in a nearly hopeless spot, Luke took the only slim chance. He banked on Logan's strength, not John's speed, and it paid off big time!

Adam squinted; that pass was something else. Everyone was focused on Logan. Sure, beating three defenders and making the catch showed Logan's talent and grit, making him the hero. But Adam was eyeing the quarterback.

In a crisis, Luke made a sharp call, decisive in the clutch. Maybe he spotted a weaker defender on Logan, or maybe he just trusted Logan's skills. But the pass was spot-on- power, direction, arc, all perfect, landing right in Logan's hands.

Adam couldn't see the replay from the stands, but from his view, Logan caught the ball in a crowd, yet the pass was so precise, it seemed pre-calculated, making Logan's catch look easy. That's why he dodged the hand trying to knock it loose.

This quarterback is interesting.

Adam rubbed his chin, thoughts racing. The game had 71 seconds left and counting. He felt these 71 seconds would be wild. Sure enough, the quarterback didn't waste time and started the next play immediately. But was this reckless or well-planned? Luke could taste blood in his mouth. His mind was crystal clear, even sharper than usual. He knew that pass was a close call, with a bit of luck. But he couldn't rely on luck. In sports, once you start depending on luck, it's game over. He had to trust his skills, and only his skills!noveldrama

So, what's the next move?

Screen pass? Wildcat formation? Play-action pass? Cross routes?

His mind raced, eyes locked on the defense. Everyone said the Badgers' D was weak, but standing in front of them, especially Justin, you could feel the pressure. What play should he call?

"Strawberry Jam!" Luke shouted, but this time it wasn't a test; it was the real deal.

Hearing the call, Marcus started moving. He had been behind Luke but now ran to the right, standing inside the wide receiver, looking like another O-lineman or maybe a receiver. The position was ambiguous. Then Luke's voice came through, "1, two 1s," he really said it like that, not "11," but "two 1s," a series of tactical calls sounding like computer code.

The Badgers' D hesitated but didn't bite. No one moved. Then Justin saw Luke bend down and repeat the call, "1, two 1s," eyes locked on Luke, like a jungle cat ready to pounce. This time, he was going for the kill, no mercy.

"Snap!" The call came, and Justin lunged forward, attacking fiercely!
