Chapter 260
Lucas simply looked at Evelyn in the silence. His eyes betrayed no emotion whatsoever, and there was a hint of coldness in the air.
Evelyn had said what she came to say, and she had no intention of lingering. As such, she turned and left. She didn't so much as blink as she walked past Tiffany without glancing at her.
Tiffany couldn't help but furrow her brows. She didn't know what Evelyn had come for.
However, after quickly sorting through her thoughts, she wondered whether it was because Lucas accidentally saved Evelyn when he was at the Millers. Did this give Evelyn the illusion that she could salvage their relationship?
She didn't like Evelyn's self-righteousness, especially since Evelyn had an ambiguous relationship with Sebastian.
Could it be that, after weighing her options, she decided Lucas was the better choice?
Still, Tiffany didn't let any of that show, nor did she ask Evelyn what she came for, since she knew it would be pointless.
She walked to the bed and threw the cheap breakfast Evelyn brought for Lucas into the trash, thinking she naturally had the right to do so.
Then, she poured Lucas a glass of water. "Have some water, Lucas."
Lucas didn't even glance away, paying no attention to the lonely container now sitting in the trash can.
Tiffany's brow was raised slightly, her expression unchanged. She had expected this. Just as she thought, Evelyn was nothing but a stain in Lucas' life—useless and extremely annoying.
Otherwise, how could Evelyn's years beside him not compare to the mere months Tiffany had?
Lucas' kindness toward her was something Evelyn could only dream of.
Evelyn had the day off.
After leaving the hospital, she returned home and got on a video call with Sebastian to discuss the accident at the Miller residence yesterday, as well as the drone issue.
In the industry, manufacturing and design standards varied wildly. While the drone itself was part of the problem, the operator's control was another factor. An accident like this served as a wake-up call.noveldrama

They spent nearly an hour discussing technical and safety issues before ending the call.
Evelyn glanced at the time. As it was nearly noon, she thought about making herself lunch.
Just as she was about to get up, her phone rang.
She looked at the screen. It was a call from Maria.
Evelyn stared quietly at the caller ID for a few seconds before picking up. "Hello, Grandma."
On the other end of the line, Maria sounded a little drained. "Evie, are you alright? Yesterday must've given you quite a scare."
Evelyn smiled faintly. "I'm fine. Some inevitable risks of operations can't be avoided."
Maria sighed.
"That's true. Good thing you weren't hurt. You wouldn't have been able to take it. Lucas will take at least a month to recover from his injury, let alone someone as petite as you."
On that point, she did find that Lucas had handled things properly. At the very least, he hadn't let his wife get hurt. Although Nathan mentioned that Lucas had meant to save another lady, the result was still the same, wasn't it?
"Evie, apart from that incident, everything else at the Millers was fine, right?" Maria finally brought up her real concern. She was somewhat concerned about what happened yesterday, subtly probing to see whether Evelyn had any lingering resentment.
Evelyn knew that Maria was worried about her and Lucas. She had most likely already heard something about Tiffany.
