Chapter 475 New Year, New Games

The New Year holiday passed quickly. Sierra’s research project resumed, and early that morning, Johnathan personally drove her to campus.

“I’ve already spoken with the administration. They won’t bother you. But you’ll have people nearby–if anything happens, just say the word.” noveldrama

He added, “Also, if anyone from the Wynn family contacts you, ignore them.”

In the past few days, he had been taking swift, forceful actions that rattled more than a few people. He wouldn’t put it past someone to lash out in desperation.

“You be careful too,” Sierra reminded him.

They stood and talked for a while before Johnathan finally drove off. Sierra lingered a moment before turning to head inside–only to find White had shown up out of nowhere.

“You two still haven’t broken up?”

As always, White’s mouth was as tactless as ever. Remembering what Johnathan had said, Sierra didn’t give him the cold shoulder like usual. She merely nodded.

Her attitude remained distant, but White didn’t mind.

If Sierra suddenly acted friendly, that would’ve been more suspicious.

He kept pace beside her, chattering about his holiday..

“I heard his grandfather passed away.”

Sierra wasn’t at all surprised that White knew who Johnathan was.

“Yeah.”

“Then… my condolences.”

Sierra blinked in amusement. “Wow… never thought I’d hear you say something like that.”

“I’m not completely clueless about your customs.”

What he meant was he usually didn’t bother playing along. Given his background, he could speak however he wanted–no need to tiptoe around anyone.

“Well, I like your attitude today. Try to keep it up,” Sierra teased lightly.

White gave her a suspicious look/ “You know, I feel like you’ve changed since the break. You don’t seem as hostile toward me.”

Sierra stiffened slightly. This guy is way too perceptive.

Feigning exasperation, she replied, “Honestly, I was never hostile. It’s just… you don’t get along with my friend, and you talk like you’ve never heard of a filter. I can’t keep up. You still say that kind of stuff, and F

still get a headache.”

She wore a long–suffering expression, and White finally laughed.

“Alright, I’ll try to tone it down.”

They chatted a bit more before White casually steered the conversation toward the project,

“This one doesn’t seem too hard. I’ve already got a handle on it. I think we’ll have good news soon. But for you? I bet this is child’s play. You’re made for something much bigger.”

Sierra raised an eyebrow. “Like what?”

“Like those two groundbreaking papers you published”

White looked at her with genuine admiration.

“You have no idea what kind of status you hold in this field. Your approach broke all conventional thinking”

“I only got interested in biochemistry because of your work. I keep wondering what else could be possible if you kept pushing that line of research”

His excitement wasn’t fake. it was written all over his face.

Sierra thought for a moment before replying, “I’d love to keep working on it. It’s just…”

“Just what?” White pressed eagerly. “Is it because johnathan doesn’t approve?”

Sierra hesitated, then nodded slightly

White’s face immediately darkened. “What right does he have? Oh–I get it. He’s jealous. He’s scared you’ll surpass him.”

Sierra’s expression turned cold. “Don’t say things like that again.

Sensing her anger, White backed off “Sorry. But I still think you should have your own path. He shouldn’t be holding you back. Why should being with him mean giving up what you love?”

I haven’t given anything up.” Sierra explained patiently.

But White wasn’t listening. “Then why is he interfering? That’s not right.”

“He’s doing it for my safety,” Sierra said quietly.

“What do you mean?”

White looked genuinely puzzled Sierra glanced at him and said. “Don’t play dumb. With all the intel you have, you must know–Johnathan and I almost got killed”

All this trouble came from our research

White gave a sheepish sale, if caught off guard.

“Okay, I did hear something about that… but not much. From what I know, it was resolved. That group was wiped out. So… shouldn’t everything be fine now?”

Sierra didn’t reply immediately, her expression uncertain.

“He’s still worried. He thinks someone might still be watching me.”
