Chapter 2029
The scene threw Elijah into a trance. When he wanted to confirm what he had seen, there was not a single trace of tear left on her flushed little face other than a pair of bloodshot eyes.
Clenching her fists, Carolien silently mourned for herself for three seconds deep down before speaking in an ice-cold voice, "I hope that Mr. Luther, you're a man who keeps your word and promise. Don't ever forget about what you said today!"
She hoped that he wouldn't ever regret the choice he made for infinite years to come!
Her teeth gnashed in hatred, and for the first time, Carolien was rendered speechless from fury.
"Carolien..."
When he spoke once more, his tone was one of hesitation and regret. The look on her face was horrifying. For some reason, his heart throbbed and thumped. It was as if a terrible premonition swept over him.
"Leave!"
"Carolien?"
When she heard the familiar voice that could send her heart trembling, Carolien could no longer hold her anger back no matter how good-tempered she might be. Her hand struck forward to send the cake flying at him.
"I told you to get lost!"
"Get lost!"
As she roared, Carolien's voice was filled with hysterical anger. She had never despised someone that much. At that moment, the anger in her heart was like a volcano that threatened to erupt, breaking free loose of control.
Even though the cake was in a box, the force thrown at him was with unbearable strength. With a hurting smack, there were still some traces of cream left on his expensive clothes. His face was burning hot, his clothes dirty and filthy. Elijah had never been in such a sorry state in his entire life. He wanted to speak still, but all the words were jumbled up in his mouth. He knew that no matter what a glib tongue he had at the moment, it would be useless to even say anything. In a daze, and not knowing what was happening, he found himself outside the door by the time he returned to himself. What pulled him back to reality was a deafening slam of the door.
No one knew what they talked about in the room that night. Hudson and Hart were incredulous to find that Carolien actually agreed. After two days of busy work, the day arrived.
In the room, Hudson picked up the other party's phone before rushing over to say, "Elijah, the location has been changed to a private club of the ABSS Film and Television Company. It's the private villa of the owner of a minor entertainment company!"
Putting down the teacup in his hand, Hart chimed in.
"What a sly fox! How cunning. He's indeed on guard against us! If we got everything ready at the appointed place, it'll all be useless now!"
Hudson replied after returning to his seat.
"Well, fortunately, he's still a fox hiding among the bushes nonetheless. As eagles, we're experienced. Else, our efforts would have been in vain! Our unconditional cooperation must have let their guard down. I heard that his private villa is private property, so it is relatively safer. They arranged for us to head over at eight o'clock, which means that they're going to hold a small party in the name of the company at half past eight so that the pervert has the excuse to attend the event. So, as we expected, there might possibly not be only one person heading over. In half an hour, we should have settled everything. I guess that even in his dreams, he would not have expected our people to set up our plan according to his moves!"
"Don't let your guards down! Get ready for plan B!"
They exchanged details before Elijah said, "Inform her. Let's go!"
With that, he stood up with his cold, well-defined face devoid of emotions.
In an empty and quiet private villa, very quickly, Elijah skimmed through the information and videos, and spoke up after making sure that the documents were right.
"Mr. Kwon is indeed incredible!"
He raised his hand and checked the time before turning his gaze turned to Hudson beside him. When he saw Hudson nod his head, Elijah said, "He's is here. I can do nothing about the rest. I can just say that Mr. Kwon admires her..."
He gave a deliberate hint. In his heart, he hoped that Hart would not be too anxious, so only then would it make things easier for Carolien to buy him some time. Twenty minutes were enough.
The two of them exchanged a few more words of greeting. Elijah naturally wouldn't stay for long and be about to leave with Hudson according to plan. When they brushed past each other, Elijah was shocked by Carolien, who wore a gorgeous silver-gray minidress.
He couldn't believe how dressed up she was.
Unconsciously, he paused in his tracks and whispered, "Remember what I said... Be careful!"
The last two words were spoken in a
low hushed mutter, but Carolien didn't look sideways, and nor did she stop, as if to regard him as air. In an instant Elijah's face grew ugly, but he couldn't look back. He could only brace himself and walk out of the door with his heart wildly pounding. There was a faint sound of music in the villa that sped up his pace.
Out of the door, he got into the car and ordered, "Let's go!"
Shocked by his anxious tone, Hudson started the car and sped into the distance. When he turned the corner, he subconsciously turned back and heard Elijah speak before he could even say a word.
"Don't stop. Keep moving!"
It was not until the car was quite some distance away that Hudson asked in confusion, "Elijag, are we really going to leave? Aren't you afraid of anything happening to Miss Jones?"
"It's exactly why you mustn't stop! He'll send his men to keep an eye on us. If there's anything unusual over at our side, she'll be in grave danger. Let's go back to the hotel!"
Hudson dared not say a single word more after hearing Elijah's words. Along the way, he looked behind him, and not knowing if it was a hallucination, there seemed to be a car trailing them from behind for quite some

When they returned to the hotel
room and closed the door, both of them found it hard to sit still. Elijah remained standing, smoking one cigarette after another. On one side, Hudson began to coordinate the information from all parties and got back down to business.
After some time, a light beep came from the computer. Hudson's voice followed, "Elijah, the video is the original version, and the electronic contract is here!"
Unknowingly, Elijah's hands exerted force to put out the cigarette in his hand. His palms and back were covered in layers of cold sweat, his body stiff all over. With his gaze lowered, he stole a look at his watch.
They were back for more than ten minutes!
Why wasn't there any news yet?
Knowing that it shouldn't be rushed, he couldn't help feeling so anxious that his trembling hands failed to light
up the cigarette even after several tries.
Time ticked by Each strike was like
a drop of water that was about to
pierce through a rock, heavily landing on Elijah's body. After what seemed like a century, an ear-piercing ringing of his phone
broke out through the silent air. With a shudder, the back of his hand was instantly scalded with a clear scar from the cigarette. When he turned around, he found that Hudson had jolted up from his chair.
"Elijah, it's done! But..."
"What about Carolien?"
Almost at the same time, their gazes met. Elijah's face turned deathly pale. "Did anything happen to her?"
What do you think?
