Branch One Hundred and Eighteen
The rest of the month was a blur as Jessica had to juggle actively preparing meals for everyone while trying to launch her restaurant.
Olivia had stayed around like a thorn in the neck that just refused to go away. Everyone later got used to her nagging and continuous bid to stow away money. She did not change a bit.
Genevieve on the other hand got started in treatment to slow down the rate of the sickness. The doctor had made it clear that the treatment was not to save her life but to extend it in the best possible way ever.
Lily had finished the interior decor and Jessica had gone for a cool indoor kind of vibe with an outdoor porch, She chose the design with the help of Leslie and Alicia who had now become closer to her than before.
The press had tagged them as the three powerful women of Chiachester City.
“Dawson asked me to prepare for Xavier’s birthday,” Jessica told Alicia and Leslie. They usually met to have lunch occasionally.
“Ohh so is Xavier celebrating this year?” Alicia asked.
Alicia seemed uptight but ever since she got into the relationship with Jason it was like a portal opened up in her soul.
“I don’t know what he had in his mind but Dawson said I must see to it that he had a happy birthday,” she said air quoting when she said happy.
“Maybe we can have a surprise party,” Leslie said happily.
“What?” both Jessica and Alicia said in unison. “No way”
“Why I think it’s a brilliant idea. I am sure you do not know what he wants and you can’t ask him because I am a thousand percent sure that he won’t tell you” Leslie expounded popping a chip into her mouth.
“How would I be able to pull that off? I must have maxed out the card putting the restaurant in good shape” she replied signing and taking a huge sip out of her drink.
“Do you honestly think that the card Xavier gives you can be maxed out by the little spending you have done?” Alicia asked.
She was truly surprised to hear this from Jessica. She did not even come close to the level of Xavier in terms of money and wealth but she still thought the money that Jessica had spent so far was too little to be called money.
“If the reason you are saying no to the surprise party is because of your fear of money then I think I might have to side with Leslie on this”
Leslie clapped her hands together happily. She smiled at Jessica and raised her eyebrow to devote seduction.
“Just family and a few friends”
“Jason can come too” Alicia added to what Leslie had said.
“Any reason to talk about Jason right?” Leslie teased and they all laughed.
“I guess I can have a surprise party for him but you have to help me plan”
“Definitely” they both screamed.
Laughter filled the air as they enjoyed each others company. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Alicia recommended a party planner to Jessica. Jessica began to speak with the planner and then she noticed that she did not know a whole lot of things about Xavier.
They were not close but they had decided to be friends and friends should know a little bit about each other such as their favorite color and things like that.
Jessica was sitting on the bed while Xavier entered into the closet.
“Xavier?” she called silently. She waited for a response but got none. She stood up and went to the door of the closet and knocked on it.
“Speak Jessica,” he said and she chuckled.
“So I was thinking, we decided to be friends right? And it seems like I do not know anything about you”
“So you want to know things about me?” he asked teasingly.
She gritted her teeth and took a deep breath. It was as if Xavier had suddenly grown some kind of confidence that made teasing easy. He did it at every given chance and she did not trust herself to fight back.
“Yes,” she replied.
Xavier was thrown off his feet. Ever since he started teasing Jessica this was the first time she responded and the fact that her response was like an interest in him threw him off balance.
He did not know yet what it was that he felt for her but he just wanted to see himself around her as much as he could. He had shut out Brian everytime he had said he was in love with Jessica.
He knew love so he should know what it felt like. He knew he did not love Jessica. There was no way it was possible. He did not have an interest in women. Jessica was just a woman who happened to become a good friend to him.
“So what do you want to know?” he asked as he shuffled around the room.
“I have an idea, we can play a game. The one we could not play the last time when we were at Aurora Haven. I think it would be a good way for us to ask questions about each other without feeling strange about it and of course, we have to include a drink in it. The game is only interesting when we add a little bit of alcohol” she rambled.
The door opened and Xavier came face to face with her. She took a step back. “I thought you were giving up having alcohol?” he asked.
“Oh my, I did say that” Her face fell. She had forgotten about her promise to stop alcohol. Her attitude with drinking in the past few weeks flashed before her eyes and she chuckled at herself.
“I don’t mind you having a drink though. You are usually cute when you have one” he said as he went to the vanity table to use the lotion.
“Cute?” she murmured and watched his head bob at her in the mirror. She knew she could turn red any moment from then.
“I would get the drink” she said rushing out.
