Chapter 243
Chapter 243
Isaac glanced at her. She's pretty. Grandma must have had her dolled up for the tea party. Never saw her putting that kind of makeup or hairstyle on. It's gorgeous.
He was replying to a few emails on his phone, but now he turned his camera on and took a few pictures of her. There was a little difference between her in the photos and her in real life. The photos were just a cheap imitation of her beauty.
Patricia kept asking, but he was still fiddling with his phone, so she asked again patiently, "Can you tell me where Percy is right now, President Arnold? My friend is looking for him."
Isaac finally looked at her and cocked his eyebrow. "He went back to his base. Nikola and I sent him off two hours ago."
Patricia paled. "Where's his base?" I can get Darcie to look for him at his base. If she can see him, she can find a way to settle this.
Isaac smiled. "Nobody knows where the base is. It's top-secret."
That put Patricia's plan in disarray. "It's top-secret? Nobody can find him?"
So he did run away. And to think Darcie trusted him. He took advantage of her! Fury welled up within her.
"Yeah. He's in a special and dangerous line of work so secrecy is imperative. As long as he doesn't come back, we're practically disconnected from him. Couldn't even reach him when his grandfather died last year."
Patricia gnashed her teeth in anger. "Percy is a b*stard!" She went back to her desk and packed her things up, and then she put on her coat. "I need to leave, President Arnold. There's something I need to do," she said.
She sounded like she was making a statement, not a request.
Isaac said coldly, "It's still working hours, Miss Aniston. Leave, and that counts as an AWOL."
Patricia was just about to leave, but she hesitated for a while. And then she ignored his warning. I'm rich now. Three hundred and fifty grand in my account. One day of salary is nothing.
Isaac was surprised that she wasn't fazed by the threat of getting her salary docked for being AWOL.
Patricia got into the elevator and called Darcie, but it took a long while to get through.
"Tricia?"
"Stop calling Percy. He's gone back to his base, and nobody knows where that is."
And that was the final straw for Darcie. "That b*stard!" She started sobbing her heart out. Patricia felt sorry for her.
"Where are you, Darcie? I'll come over." She needs someone by her side right now and I have to be there for her.
"Prosperous Rivers, unit 2202."
Patricia made a note of that. "Wait for me." About an hour later, Patricia rang the doorbell.
Darcie took the door. She was in her pajamas, and her face was pale and distraught.
Patricia went inside and looked around the house. It was about two hundred square meters and decorated minimalistically. Big and simple. A soldier like Percy would love this, of course.
Darcie was on the couch, wiping her snot away with some tissues.
"Down with a cold?"
We did it once on the balcony last night. It was freezing, and I barely wore anything. Yeah, I'm down with a cold. "A bit." This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Patricia bent over and touched her forehead. "No fever, thank goodness. Any pills here?"
Patricia pointed at the TV cabinet. "There's a medical kit in there. There should be some pills."
The last time her knees were bruised from kneeling too much, Percy got her the salve from that kit. Just the thought of Percy made her head hurt. They did everything inside and outside of the book. She complied with his every command.
