Before entering the exam hall, Miranda checked that she had her admission ticket, pen, and all the tools needed for doing calculations. She hadn’t left out any of the things she needed.
Winter told her she planned to come all dressed up to wish Miranda the best of luck for her test.
Miranda knew that Winter had been busy working on two huge projects recently. There was no way the latter would be able to wake up in time to do it.
Besides, it was highly unlikely that she’d show up here all dressed when it was so cold.
As she’d predicted, Miranda didn’t see Winter when she looked around outside the exam hall. However, she wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.
Some friends wouldn’t need to text each other or stay in touch all the time. Even then, their relationship would remain as strong as ever, and they’d still care about each other.
The netizens had coined this kind of relationship the “reply when your can friendship“.
The exam was two hours long. After submitting the exam papers, the examinees either looked gloomy or excited. On the contrary, Miranda appeared calm.
It was drizzling outside when Miranda left the exam hall. Since it was difficult to get a cab there, she decided to take the subway home.
She was about to leave the place when she heard someone calling her
name.
“Miranda?”
Miranda lifted her gaze and spotted Tina standing in the corridor. “It really is you.”
Tina had previously gone to Miranda’s place but had failed to persuade her to go to the hospital to visit Hansel. She hadn’t seen the latter since then.
It had been almost six months now. As far as Tina knew, Hansel and Miranda still hadn’t gotten back together.
Their breakup seemed definite this time. Even Evelyn, who’d been convinced the two of them would never part ways for real, had started having doubts too.
Tina would sometimes hear Evelyn nagging about it at home. “Why
does Hansel keep having gastric problems these days? He didn’t have to visit the hospital so frequently back when he was still with Miranda. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
“Tina, do you think the two of them have ended things for real?
“Has Miranda lost her mind? She needs to know when to stop acting up! Does she not want to marry into this family anymore?”
All along, Evelyn had always felt that Miranda didn’t deserve Hansel. She’d gone on and on about how she wanted the two of them to break.
- up.
But now that Hansel and Miranda had suddenly ended their relationship, it seemed like Evelyn couldn’t quite get used to it.
It wasn’t just Evelyn. Tina hadn’t quite accepted the fact that the couple had broken up either.
It wasn’t like she’d been rooting for their relationship since the beginning. Instead, she just found it hard to believe that Miranda was the one who’d insisted on breaking up.
She’d also asked Calvin about what had led to the breakup. When she
heard that Hansel had shown off his new girlfriend in front of Miranda, she hadn’t been surprised that Miranda had finally snapped at that
moment.
At this point, Tina was slowly becoming convinced that Hansel and Miranda wouldn’t get back together again.
“Tina!” Miranda smiled and greeted her.
Tina noticed that Miranda was carrying a transparent pouch, which was used to store her admission ticket and ID card. She remembered seeing the latter in the library the other day.
“You’re really taking the postgraduate admission exam…”
Tina and Evelyn had both assumed that Miranda had just been putting up an act to get Hansel back. Tina had never thought that Miranda was serious about doing it for real.
Miranda nodded. “I’ve always wanted to continue with my studies. I missed the opportunity to do that because I was too immature in the past. I hope it’s not too late for me to start now.”
Tina scrutinized Miranda’s face and frowned slightly. “You started studying again after you broke up with Hansel, right?”
“Mhm.”
“You only had that much time. I think it’s…” Tina felt like Miranda’s chances were slim or close to none.
The number of students taking the postgraduate admission exam this year had reached a record high. The competition was much fiercer, especially for those trying to get into a top–rated institute like Bedford College.
Miranda had been out of college for a few years. During that time, she hadn’t taken up any work related to her studies or interests.
She probably wouldn’t be able to score well with such a short period of preparation.
Tina found how Miranda had started working hard for her dreams after the breakup very inspiring. However, it took a lot more than
determination to pass the postgraduate admission exam.
Tina didn’t say anything further since she didn’t want to dampen Miranda’s spirits.
