Chapter 13 A snitch
He wished he could look away but Azuaka Jnr. was digging faster and soon stifled his body as he jerked. Slowly Opula’s moan stopped and she smiled at Azuaka as he rose from her body, sat at the edge of the bed to light a cigar.
“I hope we get to do this in future as man and wife,” Opula said, her voice still resurrecting from the moan, her lustful eyes pleased at Azuaka’s nakedness.
“Yes. First I got to make some money from the real estate contract.” He stood and slid into his boxers. With his body bent across to her, he sucked her breast and squeezed it. “I can’t have enough of you.”
“Oh,” she moaned and opened her legs once more for him but the knock on the door halted them.
“That must be Agu,” whispered Azuaka Jnr., adjusting from her and she tied up a towel quickly.
The door creaked open and Agu ushered in his frowned face. “Hope I’m not distracting anything.”
“No. I will go and have my bath now,” said Opula.
The door slammed. She had left.
“What is happening?” asked Azuaka.
“I had words with Nku and he said the Chinese billionaire is for good. He is interested in our software and is offering fifty million dollars for outright payment,” he whispered.
“I smell rat race, son of man. He had knowledge of this all this while and he kept it secret, booked an appointment with the Chinese dude at the club.” He shook his head. What if I had not seen them? They planned to do it without us and that they did.”
“I am disappointed in Nku and Ferguson.” Should I tell him about my appointment with the Chinese billionaire? He thought. “He is forming a click now.”
“And war,” added Azuaka, smoking with convulsed hands. “We planned to use the software to render the world broke, to enrich ourselves. Fifty million dollars is nothing compared to what we will steal from the world. Just one account the software will log into can steal fifty million dollars for us. He needs to ask himself why the Chinese billionaire is so interested in it that he is willing to offer that sum.”
“Shush,” Agu said to Azuaka Jnr. “Don’t raise your voice.
Azuaka Jnr. stood up, searched out a fresh cigar in his pocket and lit. I said it. That son of a gun is out to ruin our deal. I will kill Ferguson, and use his blood for blood cake; he thought.
“Calm down. The water isn’t boiling yet. We are going to meet and dialogue.”
“Ever since that asshole came in the game the table has turned away from us.” He blew out a cloud of smoke and drew more from his cigar. He walked closer to Agu. “We have invested hugely in this project. They won’t understand what you and I went through to pull that sum. Whatever is happening now they planned already. I smell rat race. If they could invite the Chinese billionaire without our knowledge, I wonder what would be their next line of action. You know…”
Opula greeted a neighbor and they stopped talking. She entered the room and met them eating.
Azuaka Jnr. bit from his lump of meat and Agu went on to lick the plate of soup. He threw his meat into his mouth and crunched through.
“Hope you guys are enjoying the food,” she said.
Azuaka belched before he asked, “What shift this week?”
“I am on a serious night shift this week.”
He winked at her, “So tell me if you’ve had unserious ones all this while.” He stood up. “I would love to be with my woman.”
“Not that.” She laughed and poked him in the chest.
“You see we’re expecting our board of directors at the factory very soon. Our factory feels to be declining in their input so this is the time they purge the factory of incompetent staff. And I don’t want to lose my job because there is none elsewhere.”
“Save yourself those protocols. As soon as my real estate pays off you’ll leave that job.”
Agu looked at him and he looked back and looked away. He stroked her natural black hair backwards, appreciating the drought of beauty that fell from her. He argued inwardly if he would ever find a girl as beautiful as Opula, one with the mountains of lust all over her body. Upon getting paid by the software, he would have to initiate their break up and push it on until they fall apart. She would understand later that in future he did not see his money in her purse and his children sucking her breasts. No future for them.
“How are you, Agu?” she asked as though she had just noticed him.
“I am good.” He was picking his teeth.
“Azu has refused to tell me what happened at the club.”
“He did?” he asked.
“Yes, he only made mention of Nku and the white man keeping you guys waiting only to see them chilling already in the club.”Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Agu noticed Azuaka Jnr. stealing a glance at him. What do I answer now, he thought, “Whatsoever he told you is right. He told me same, you know.”
There was absolute silence; the world paused in a minute.
“I need a favor of you,” Azuaka Jnr. said staring deep into her eyes, exchanging their breath of rum and cigar.
Opula snorted, rolled her eyes around the room, kissed him and wiped his lips with her finger. She remembered a lot now. Something just hit her in the head; it was all about her promise to Azuaka Jnr.
“Way back in school I was awed by your love, respect and countless sacrifice you made for me. I imagined what it would look like to look into your eyes and pay you back and now is the time. Whatever favor you want of me that I’ll do.”
“I want you to hire one of your beautiful smart friends, to keep a close watch on Ferguson, study every of his moves and plans. Now the real estate venture is about to pay Ferguson and Nku want to leave us in the dark. I smell total abandonment and that white kid is up to it. Agu and I have come a long way. We can’t afford to lose out because so much money is involved.” she placed her hands on his shoulder and felt fear and uncertainty pounding his chest.
Danger lurked around…
