your wicked intentions
Letta didn’t know if there was something wrong with her appearance, but she still vividly remembered a few hours ago when she examined herself in front of the large mirror. Everything seemed fine, but the woman dressed in white, similar to her, continued to stare at her with sharp eyes, as if scrutinizing every inch of Letta’s appearance.
“Let me introduce them, they are my parents,” Marco said, making Letta force her best smile, although it felt extremely awkward.
“Congratulations on your marriage,” Helena said, glancing towards the man next to her, Edward Jovanka. She looked at Letta with an expression not much different from Helena’s.
“Thank you,” Letta replied awkwardly, but her heart raced faster as Edward began speaking with a deep voice almost similar to Marco’s, even sounding the same. Letta felt intimidated before something happened.
“Is it true that you’re pregnant with Marco’s child?” Edward asked coldly, making Letta only blink a few times before nodding her head.
“What is the gestational age now?” Edward asked again.
“About eight weeks,” Letta answered with her awkward tone.
“So, how much longer until the child is born?” Edward asked, making Marco just look at his father with a furrowed brow, while Helena rolled her eyes lazily, seemingly able to predict what her husband would do.
“I don’t know, but it might be born in the 39th/40th week,” Letta answered.
“That means it’s still a long way off,” Edward said, making Letta nod her head.
“Exactly. You must take care of yourself. Don’t let anything happen to you and your baby. If that happens, tell me immediately. You know your father-in-law’s number, right?” Edward asked, displaying a friendly smile, leaving Letta stunned.
Helena suddenly reprimanded him, “What are you doing? Why are you behaving like that?”
“What’s wrong? Isn’t it normal for me to worry about my grandchild and my own daughter-in-law? Come on, dear, open your heart and just accept that soon you will be a grandmother,” Edward said while embracing Helena. Letta just watched, stunned, observing the change in the atmosphere before her.
The previously chilly and ominous aura now transformed into warmth and affection between them. Letta unconsciously tugged at the corner of her lips, feeling touched. Marco’s parents weren’t as bad as she had thought, except maybe his mother, who still looked at her with a scornful gaze.
“Stop talking about things like this. Look over there,” Helena said, finally making Marco look back. Letta saw a woman she recognized as her husband’s fiancee. Are they still in a relationship until now, Letta wondered, gazing at Marco, who was focused on Arabella.
“Hi, aunt,” Arabella greeted Helena and Edward warmly, prompting both of them to exchange greetings. Letta noticed the middle-aged couple who seemed to be Arabella’s parents, chatting intimately with Marco’s parents. Arabella’s father even pulled Marco in for a hug. Letta was stunned, observing the closeness of the two families. They laughed happily as if it were Marco and Arabella’s wedding day, while she remained a distant observer. She was forgotten, standing alone, watching their intimacy.
Someone noticed Letta’s silence, Arabella, who looked at her with a condescending gaze. “Come on, you make me feel so guilty for leaving the bride alone behind us,” Arabella said, finally drawing the attention of the others to Letta.
Arabella approached and embraced Letta. “Congratulations on your marriage to Marco. You must be very happy,” Arabella said so close to Letta’s face, leaving Letta speechless.
“Why don’t you accept my congratulations?” Arabella asked again, making Letta shake her head.
“Thank you,” Letta said, making Arabella smile broadly. They looked towards the people in front of them, who seemed to be looking at Letta with disdain. Although Letta had received a warm greeting from Edward earlier, she couldn’t compare to Arabella.
“How are you feeling? You’re okay, right? I’m just too worried because you’re still too young to carry a child. I’m afraid you might not be mentally prepared yet. But seeing you now, it seems you’re fine,” Arabella said, making Letta look back at her. Apparently, Marco had already told everything to his fiancee, Letta thought.
“Don’t be so shocked like that, Marco always tells me everything. Didn’t you know beforehand that I am your husband’s fiancee?” Arabella retorted. As people started conversing with each other, only Arabella and Letta were currently locked in their gaze, as if this was merely a conversation between the two of them.
“Your innocent face really does hide something much more dreadful than I had imagined,” Arabella remarked, causing Letta to furrow her brows. As Arabella shifted her tone, even her once friendly smiling face now appeared completely different from what she had displayed before. With hardened jawlines and sharp eyes that implied she could really annihilate anything in front of her. Right now, Arabella gazed at Letta with such a look, leaving Letta speechless.
“It turns out an ordinary employee like you has an extraordinary plan. You have a plan that could make me applaud while standing. I never expected that the story in a romantic novel would truly happen to me. An employee eyeing her own boss, even selling her dignity. I am truly impressed by you,” Arabella said, making Letta widen her eyes. How could Arabella interpret it like that, even though she might have heard the story from Marco and it wasn’t like that at all?
“What do you mean?” Letta asked.NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
“Well, I have already figured out your wicked intentions. I also know all about your life. You are a child abandoned by your own parents and taken care of by your family who even now are expelling you, aren’t they? That’s probably why you got caught up in living expenses or whatever it is, or maybe the strong desire for a luxurious life. That’s why you executed your plan and sold yourself to Marco. And it seems your wicked plan has truly reaped fortune because you immediately got pregnant with his child. Don’t you know that the Jovanka family, their own flesh and blood, also cannot be disregarded, and luck favored you so that you could marry Marco?” Arabella said, truly leaving Letta stunned with the speculations in her mind.
