Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 888

Chapter 888:

“Sure.”

Since they were working together, Hadley didn’t mind.

Bubbly and talkative, Ayla kept the conversation going. “So you’re with East Entertainment too, right? Nobody told me you were coming. Let’s stick together—it’ll be nice to have a buddy.”

Hadley was about to explain she was a freelancer, not an artist under contract.

But the meeting room door opened just then. Adonis, Elvin, the scriptwriter, and the producer walked in.

Instantly, the room quieted, and soon the table reading session began. Two hours later, during a break, Hadley was busy highlighting her lines and jotting notes in the margins. As a newcomer, she had to be twice as diligent.

“What are you writing?” Ayla peeked over her shoulder. “Wow, Hadley, you’re so dedicated!”

“Mr. Flynn?”

“Mr. Flynn…”

“Mr. Flynn!”

Suddenly, the previously relaxed room snapped to attention. Everyone stood up at once, as if anything less would be disrespectful.

Hadley was still immersed in her script until Ayla tugged at her sleeve. “Hadley! It’s Mr. Flynn—he’s here to support us!” Hadley blinked in disbelief. Eric was here?noveldrama

She looked up and saw him enter with Phillips. Adonis and the producer were already at the door, welcoming him.

“Mr. Flynn, what brings you here today?”

“What, I’m not welcome?” Eric arched a brow.

Adonis laughed. “Of course you are. We’re honored by your visit.”

“Exactly,” added the producer. “You’re our top investor now—Come by anytime.”

Hadley stared, stunned. She leaned toward Ayla and whispered, “Did East Entertainment invest in this project?”

“I hadn’t heard anything,” Ayla whispered back. “Maybe Mr. Flynn made a last-minute investment.” Then her eyes lit up, and she squeezed Hadley’s arm. “Hadley, do you think he invested because of…?”

Hadley’s expression grew stern as she remained quiet.

Ayla was bubbling with excitement as she shared, “Did you catch the news? Linda’s gone missing all of a sudden, and the folks at East Entertainment are pretty shaken up. They’re on the lookout for fresh faces. Hadley, this might be our moment!”

The silence from Hadley deepened, her frown becoming more pronounced.

Was East Entertainment funneling money in a hurry? What was Eric’s real plan here?

Eric’s eyes cut through the gathering, fixing intently on Hadley. She appeared cheerful, probably because Joy hadn’t given her troubles the previous night.

Adonis hailed Eric. “Mr. Flynn, care to take a seat?”

“No, thanks.” Eric declined with a friendly gesture. “I’m just here to watch, not to step in.”

He checked his watch and announced, “Everyone has put in a solid effort and I don’t want to disturb. I’ve ordered some drinks and snacks for all. Let’s take a moment to relax.”
