The Wicked Mrs. Gastrell (English version)

Chapter 48 Aftermath

At half past three in the morning I got up and took a shower. I hummed while putting my make-up on and dressing up for the day. After cleaning myself up, I went down to the kitchen and started cooking. While waiting for the meat to be boiled, I first read the news online.

As expected, the scandal spread like wildfire throughout the country. What happened immediately became the number top trending on the sites. The clan of Asturias have done nothing to stop the release of the news so now the citizens are now gossiping behind the videos.

Some are even digging up the unseen man in the video but I made sure that I buried the original video. I paid a couple to the video editor. I might have hated the sight of my husband enjoying Elizabeth’s mouth but I won’t let the nation know that.

That will be mine to keep.

The family threatened to sue the people behind it but I say good luck to them. They should now focus more on their massive stench that has evaporated for the whole world to smell.

I got reports that there have been incessant meetings from left to right and switching alliances are brewing. In the local scenario, my relatives are already benefiting from my hard work. The entire Cerro Roca and Monte Vega are also in trouble.

The whole place is in a frenzy of media lashings. The Asturias, who still haven’t issued an official statement, are now the center of attention. There is also a risk that the Asturias and Gastrell project will not be given a green signal. Cholo’s family is now implicated in the scandal.

The sun rose from outside while I prepared the table. I could already hear Cholo’s footsteps from the living room. The smile I prepared on my lips was sweet when I took the cup to make coffee for him.

“Good morning. Just wait a sec for your coffee, dear,” I said while putting the pod on the coffee maker.

I felt his presence behind me and his lips on my head right after that.

“Good morning. Don’t bother. I need to go now. Emergency.”

I faced my husband and was slightly stunned. There are still traces of the bruises which he says were just from a minor accident.

“At this early?” I looked at the huge wall clock in the kitchen. “It’s still five thirty in the morning. Why the rush?”

“It’s an emergency. Ymir called and I needed to be there for the meeting. Will you be okay here or would you want to go with me?”

“N-No… No. I’m alright here. Go now. I’ll just bring you some breakfast or do you want me to order for you?”

Cholo smiled and pulled me to his arms. He showered my head little kisses and caressed my back.

“What did I do to be so lucky to have you? Please bring me my food later. I want to eat with you.”

I giggled and kissed his cheek. “Okay, boss.”

He looked at me and leaned in for a kiss.

“I’ll go now.”

I nodded and watched his back on me.This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“Are you really not going to eat here? At least taste my new dish,” I couldn’t help but say.

He stopped walking and turned to me. He ran his hands through his hair before shrugging and pulling up a chair.

“To hell with that meeting. If my wife wants me to eat with her then I’m exactly doing the same thing. Let’s see now what’s on the menu.”

Smiling, I took a seat next to him after putting down the steaming coffee that he immediately drank. I carefully put the dishes on his plate.

“I can’t believe I’m having breakfast at quarter to six in the morning,” he said, shaking his head as he took a good bite.

I just stared blankly at my husband who was obviously enjoying what he was eating. This is heaven, watching him eat my cooking heartily.

How I wish we could always be like this. I could be that type of housewife I would be for him. I’ll be his chef, his stylist, the mother of his children.

I blinked in pain at the last thought. Why is life so complicated? Why can’t we be together without hurting me? Why did everything that happened have to happen? Why does it have to be me? Why can’t I be happy with him?

So many why’s but there is little to no answer. It’s always been like this. Always asking questions, taking chances on things that I know will never come true again.

I’m always holding on to the vacuum for me to jump inside it in the end.

“Eat,” Cholo ordered me and put food on my empty plate when he caught me staring at him.

“Right. Sorry. You just look so good while eating. But I’ll bet you’ll look better if…” I winked at him and bit my lower lip while my hands were on my face.

He painfully groaned and shoved a spoonful of rice on my mouth. “Here, eat. And eat some more. Stop putting demons in my head this early in the morning.”

He cleared his throat twice and adjusted its seat while feeding me food. He’s deliberately avoiding my eyes and focusing only on my mouth which I bit.

He groaned. “Wife, don’t make it hard for me to leave you this morning. Today will be a tough one for sure.”

“It’ll be harder if you don’t give in,” I said and stood up to sit on his lap, my legs on either side. He’s hard already.

“See what I’m talking about?” I grind my bottoms against his hardness while grinning.

I still heard him mutter something before he crushed my lips with his. I could even taste the curry sauce in his mouth. I made sure I didn’t lose. I kissed him as hard as I could.

Cholo stood up while his arms were around me and didn’t break the kiss. I didn’t know how we reached the bedroom without stumbling on the stairs. We end up making love on the floor and then on the bed. He asked for another round one more time but I declined because the cellphone and the landline connected to the room had been making noise for a while.

He kissed me first and promised that he would come back this afternoon to finish our business. I just laughed at his silly remarks. He can’t come back anymore because this will be a long day for him.

I just showered again and spent the hours looking at every corner of the house which has been our love nest for a time now. In such a short time of being here, I’ve learned to love the place more than I did in countless of homes I’ve lived in. There is just something special here. It’s homey and not judgemental. It welcomed me and made me feel at peace.

But now it’s time I leave it. I’m getting too happy about it and based on my experiences, it’s only a matter of time before it’s over. It’s like another borrowed time of being happy and content.

The clock struck ten in the morning, a sign that it’s time to wake up from this dream and face my adversary.

“Good morning, Ms. Karina,” Celeste greeted me next to the open car door. Beside her was Vishen who’s holding the door handle.

I managed to give her a smile and nodded.

“Good morning. Are we all set?”

“Yes, Ms. Karina. All are in place. All that is needed is you.”

“Good.” I got into the car and lowered the mirror and stared at the assistant. “Thank you, Celeste. This will be your last task for me. After this, you’re free.”

The windows rolled back again and I ordered Vishen to go.
