On the surface, everyone felt that Justin was passionate and respected the bride well. However, only he knew that he was just terrified.

He was afraid that the reality might exceed his anticipation.

He was terrified to find that he was betrayed in the end when he had trusted Renee that much and treated her so sincerely.

Sophia couldn't understand his hesitation. They were just going to urge Renee to appear. It had nothing to do with their patience or ability to take good care of Renee.

Both Alexander and Francine looked at each other in confusion.

"Dear, did you do anything?" Alexander asked Francine softly.

If Renee suddenly failed to attend the ceremony, it might have been Francine's doing since Stefan didn't come to take Renee away.

Indeed, it was something Francine could have done.

"Nonsense! I've always been with you. What else could I have done?" Francine frowned and scrutinized Alexander. "But did you betray me and plot something secretly with Stef?"

"No, I didn't!" Alexander immediately waved and explained, "How could I have done that? You know your son well. I tried my best to persuade him to attend this ceremony, but he refused and made an excuse that he was busy with his work. He kept to himself in the study and refused to come out. How could I plot something with him?"

"Did he come to his senses and plot a crafty escape plan?" Francine held her face and became enthusiastic. Her eyes lit up as she said, "If that was the case, my son is too

amazing! I'll support him unconditionally. Does it mean we'll see our daughter-in-law and grandkids once we're back at Beach City?"

"If that's the case, we're doomed!" A long sigh escaped Alexander. He looked worried-he knew it wouldn't end well.

"Why? Don't you want them to get back together with each other?"

"I do. Stef had better chances to win her back in the past, but he did such a thing at this critical time. It's a great humiliation to the Baldwin family. If Stef did take Ren away, it would put the Baldwins in a very awkward position. How should we resolve that?"

Alexander didn't want to see the Hunt and Baldwin families get into a fight. Both families were strong after many years of accumulation of power to reach their current status.

If they fought, probably none of them would win. They might suffer terribly and other families might gain an advantage from it.

"I didn't overthink. At most, we'll see each other as enemies. It's not like we haven't done that before!" Francine retorted.

She had always been fearless. If it was something she wanted to achieve, no one could stop

her. She felt that she wouldn't mind fighting as long as they could earn back her son's beloved woman and her grandchildren.

Some time passed by, but Renee still failed to make an entrance.

Finally, Justin's father became restless. He made someone go to the makeup room to urge Renee's appearance.

After a while, the person who was sent to get Renee ran back to the hall in a flurry.

"Something's wrong! Mrs. Baldwin is gone!"
