The Rebirth of a Scorned Heiress

Chapter 91: A little Nepotism

“This is the list of people I would like to keep among the existing staff members,” Lily voiced as she placed a big brown envelope in front of Mr. Wallace.

“And these are the lists of people I want you to recruit for the new phase we are starting.” She added before taking her seat opposite him.

“Apart from those people on the list, every other person in the company should be let off. I’ve done background checks on all of them and decided that keeping them will not be beneficial to the new developments,” she explained.

“They are all just as corrupt as their former employer. I can’t afford to keep them,” she breathed out.

Mr Wallace looked through the files with furrowed brows before nodding approvingly.

“I didn’t hear from you for a week after you gave the money for the refurbishment, and I thought you were leaving all the work for me,” he remarked.

“Who would have thought you’d be this thorough?” he chuckled.

Lily shrugged as she took a sip of her water. “It’s a start-up company, to an extent. I wouldn’t want it to close down any time soon, and I don’t want its foundation to be shabby either. So what do you think about the one I recommend for employment?” She asked with raised brows.

“Their details are good, but they all have little to no working experience. Are you sure you are comfortable bringing them in?” He asked worriedly.

“Their working experience does not matter; we can train them. All I need is the brain in their head, and trust me, they’ve got good ones,” she pointed out. “I’m even worried some of them might not agree to work with us.”

Mr. Wallace nodded, understanding what she meant. The list contains people who are recognised for their skills and people who are being actively competed for by big companies.

The first three persons had graduated from the best university in the country, all of them with remarkable performances both inside and outside the university.

All of the work on their resume had been successful-more successful than that of other fresh graduates.

“Why are you so sure they would agree to work with us? With their profile, they can work for any big company of their choice,” he asked.

“I’m not,” Lily replied with a shake of her head. I’m not sure they would want to work for our company. But I’m sure we can get their attention.” She smiled and brought out a USB device.

“Our first collaboration will be with Alpha Tech,” she announced, and Wallace’s eyes went wide in shock.

“The Alpha tech?” He asked in surprise.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

“Yes, Alpha tech from the Watson group. I’ve spoken to them about the proposal, and I’ve been assured of a positive response. I’m going to have a meeting with their representative, so I’ll be going there during the week to finalise the project collaboration,” she explained.

{Can Mark even say no to you?} The system teased, which earned it an eye roll from Lily.

Wallace couldn’t contain his shock as he gaped at Lily, his eyes full of admiration and awe. Do you know how many people are looking for collaboration with Alpha Tech each year?” He asked.

“The list is endless! How did you get them to notice our small start-up company?” He asked.

“Because I know how to write a damn good proposal. It’s mouth-watering, and they can’t pass up on it,” she replied with a smile.

“But that’s just, by the way. I may or may not have used my friendship with one of Alpha Tech’s cousins. A little nepotism won’t hurt, right?”

“I really hit a jackpot by agreeing to work with you!” He laughed heartily.

“So what’s the project we are collaborating with them on?”

“It’s a video game,” Lily announced. “That’s why I marked the third person on the list as important. We are going to create a video game with a visual reality pod.”

“I’ve got the perfect storyline line to use, and the Alpha Tech team also agreed to it. They are going to reach out to the author and try to get a contract between them before we proceed, but if she doesn’t agree, we will find someone else,” Lily explained calmly.

At this point, Mr. Wallace’s excitement could no longer be contained as he absorbed the information, his eyes sparkling with the potential he saw in this new venture.

“This is incredible! The video game industry is booming, and with Alpha Tech’s expertise in technology, we could make a significant impact on the market.”

Lily nodded in agreement. “That’s precisely what I had in mind when I chose them as our first partner.”

{Are you sure it’s not the other way around? Last I remembered, it was Mark pressuring you to collaborate with them}

‘You think anyone would believe that if I said it?’ Lily replied with an eye roll as she continued her explanation.

“The key to success lies not only in the idea itself but also in the execution and the people we choose to work with, considering the history of the company. Having someone like Alpha Tech work with us will ease people’s minds and make them trust our product.”

“When you proposed it to them, were you not afraid you’d get rejected?” Mr. Wallace asked with a frown, and Lily chuckled.

“In that situation, who wouldn’t be?” She replied. “However, if they had rejected our proposal, we would have had to go into the visual reality pod device production ourselves, since I don’t trust the next best companies,” she explained, earning her a nod.

After a brief pause, he asked, “Have you thought about how we’ll handle the production and distribution of the game once it’s complete?”

“Of course I have. We’ll leverage our connection with Alpha Tech and the prestige that comes with their name. Their reach in the industry will open many doors for us, and I’m sure they’ll be interested in helping with distribution. After all, it’s a win-win situation for both parties.”

“You’ve calculated this so well,” Mr. Wallace chuckled.

“I’m afraid if I don’t do my part, I’ll be kicked off sooner or later,” Lily said, picking up her bag, ready to leave.

“All you have to do is focus on developing the company and making sure we get the best brains out there; I’ll provide the blueprint we will work with,” she announced, and he nodded.

“You can leave it to me; I promise I won’t disappoint.”
