The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 268

"Yeah," replied Lucas.

"Put me on speaker," said Mason.

Lucas switched the call to speakerphone.

Mason's voice came through clearly. "Has Jason contacted you? Do you think he's been acting unusually busy? I planned to invite him to dinner tonight, but he said he was tied up. I'm not sure what he's doing!"

Tiffany froze for a moment.

Lately, Jason had been distant, hardly responding to her messages. Even when she reached out to ask him something on WhatsApp, his replies were few and far between. He seemed cold.

She thought maybe it wasn't intentional and that it was probably just work keeping him busy.

...

After meeting with Harry, Evelyn returned home. This time, she was completely exhausted. She set an alarm and slept through the entire afternoon, only waking up at 6:00 pm.

She felt a lot better. The post-chemotherapy discomfort had faded considerably.

That same night, Sebastian was hosting a dinner to celebrate, and Evelyn knew her friends were genuinely happy for her. She didn't want to refuse and dampen their spirits.

After freshening up, Evelyn headed to the restaurant Sebastian had booked. She briefly mentioned to them that Lucas had given her shares in TechNova Group.noveldrama

Justine's eyes widened in shock. "TechNova Group? 20% percent? Is Lucas really that generous?"

TechNova Group, while just one of many companies under the Bluezen umbrella, was still a powerhouse. In its industry, it was one of the top three in the Covington region. The value of those shares was no small matter.

"Could it be that he didn't think it through?" Justine continued, her eyes wide in disbelief. "Is he compensating you for giving Tiffany a company?"

"If he were thinking about Evelyn, he wouldn't have given Tiffany a company," Sebastian said with a scoff. "He made those arrangements so that he wouldn't feel indebted to Evelyn anymore."

Men could be heartless-limitlessly so.

Especially someone like Lucas, who was calculated and cold to the core. So much for that whole "once married, always connected" nonsense.

Evelyn didn't bother dwelling on it because there was no point in doing so.

After all, for now, she was the one benefiting. Unless something went wrong with TechNova Group's operations or they hit a major financial snag, she was simply set to sit back and collect the money.

After dinner, Justine's spirits lifted, and she suggested they go to a bar to continue the night.

Evelyn wasn't much of a drinker. Alcohol affected her quickly, and given her condition, drinking wasn't a good idea. She was about to politely decline when she noticed Sebastian's expression darken as he looked at his phone.

Evelyn paused, a little concerned. "What's wrong, Sebastian?"

Sebastian's expression was grim. He raised his head and handed her the phone. "Someone sent me a photo. Take a look."

Justine leaned in as well.

Evelyn took the phone and glanced at the photo. Her expression froze instantly, her gaze turning cold.

In the photo, one of Flying Seal Group's tech department employees, Bailey Thompson, was sitting across from someone. That someone was Michael.

Why would Michael be meeting with a member of Flying Seal Group's tech team in private?

Justine's temper flared instantly. "Lucas' assistant is meeting with our employees on the side? It's clear he's trying to poach them!"

Evelyn understood the implication, of course.

Especially now that Arrowpoint Solutions was recruiting, it seemed like they were reaching into Flying Seal Group's internal team during this critical stage.

Sebastian frowned, his lips curling into a cold smile. "They just finished signing the divorce papers, and now this. I didn't expect Lucas to be so unbothered by the divorce. At the very least, he shouldn't have turned around and stabbed us in the back right away."

The divorce had just taken place, and now, he was targeting Flying Seal Group?
