Chapter 250
On her way to look for Sebastian, Evelyn ran into Jason.
He looked at her and handed over a drink. "Are you looking for Mr. Hill?"noveldrama
Evelyn glanced at the drink being offered. It was a cold day, so having a cup of chamomile tea was comforting. It seemed that the Millers had thoughtfully arranged everything.
She nodded and said, "Yes, thank you."
Jason had seen what had happened earlier between Evelyn and Zach.
After some serious thought, his eyes softened with sincerity. "I didn't understand Flying Seal Group's project well before, but I've recently reviewed your latest product. The quality is really impressive. If there's a chance, could we consider collaborating in the future?"
Evelyn was genuinely a little surprised. She hadn't expected Jason to approach her first, let alone extend an olive branch.
People in their industry had always believed it was inappropriate for her name to be on Flying Seal Group's project. Some even went as far as to question the company's qualifications.
"You really think so?" She paused, looking at him with suspicion.
Seeing her guarded and distant expression, he could only nod helplessly. "I believe in the Flying Seal Group's capabilities."
He also believed Evelyn hadn't done any of those so-called "shortcuts" or "backdoor" things people gossiped about. At the very least, her expertise and the feedback he had heard from a few people were all quite fair.
This time, Evelyn was genuinely surprised. She had thought Jason would naturally support Arrowpoint Solutions instead, since he was Lucas' best friend.
"If you're sincere, then Flying Seal Group would certainly welcome it."
Although she didn't know why Jason had chosen to bypass Arrowpoint, she would consider it if his offer was sincere.
If Flying Seal Group launched any follow-up projects, she would consider him under the right circumstances. She would consider it as cashing in on a favor.
Evelyn didn't think she knew Jason well. As such, after finishing the conversation, she gave a nod and walked away.
Jason stared after her for a long moment. Then, he turned to glance over at Tiffany's direction with a complicated look.
The Miller residence's garden was quite large.
Evelyn strolled around at a leisurely pace but soon felt her limbs growing cold and uncomfortable, so she made her way toward the restrooms.
Standing at the sink, she frowned and pressed a hand against her lower abdomen, trying to ease the pain from the affected area.
She had built up a strong tolerance for pain lately. Every time, she would hide away and try to recover for half an hour or so before she could function again.
Gripping the edge of the sink, she took a few deep breaths.
She only left when she saw Sebastian's WhatsApp message asking where she
was.
It might have been the pain that drained her, but just as Evelyn turned, a wave of dizziness hit her. Her body swayed slightly before a warm, firm hand caught her arm. The heat of that palm seeped aggressively into the depths of her skin.
She looked up and met Lucas' gaze.
He glanced down at her, a slight furrow between his brows. "Are you unwell because of your period?"
Before Evelyn could answer, Brandon happened to walk by under the corridor, talking on the phone. He paused when he saw the two of them speaking alone.
His steps slowed, and he stopped speaking for a moment. Then, he furrowed his brows at Evelyn, nodded at Lucas in greeting, and continued walking off to finish his call.
Evelyn couldn't care less what Brandon's thoughts were.
As for Lucas' question...
Over those three years, he had known her cycle better than anyone, as he kept
track of it monthly. It wasn't surprising he still remembered.
She quickly pulled herself together and slipped her arm out of his grip.
"Thank you," she replied in a cool tone, bypassing his question.
Once Evelyn stood upright, she looked up at Lucas again. "It ends tomorrow. Shall we meet then?"
She was referring to the cooling-off period.
Lucas finally slipped one hand into his pocket, his expression calm and indifferent.
"If I have time tomorrow, I'll let you know."
Evelyn knitted her brows. However, after thinking it through, she realized he
wanted to get this done even more than she did.
She considered it carefully, reminding him, "Please keep it in mind. I'll remind you again when the time comes."
What do you think?
