Brandon's voice was loud enough to be heard by the two surrounding tables.

Brandon raised a brow, his tone suggestive. "Ms. Reed, this coincidental misunderstanding really is quite amusing, isn't it?"

Sebastian frowned. He was just about to speak when Evelyn took off the watch with a calm expression and slipped it back into her bag.

She offered no explanation, nor did she have any interest in accidentally being a couple with Lucas. She also wasn't interested in continuing the conversation.

No matter how she was teased or the curiosity surrounding her, she treated herself like a complete outsider, refusing to make anything of it. Only then did Lucas look up to glance at her.

His eyes held no emotion-neither joy nor anger. He looked on like a spectator.

Brandon watched Evelyn's reaction and felt his expression shift ever so slightly. He couldn't understand the reason.

Not only did she avoid explaining herself, but she didn't even acknowledge the matter.

Sebastian took the opportunity to steer the topic away with a light joke. "It is pure coincidence. Mr. Grant already has a beautiful lady at his side. Everyone should be focused on Ms. Moore instead. Otherwise, she might feel sad, no?"

Tiffany paused briefly, then subtly pressed her lips together.

She quickly leaned closer to Lucas, who had remained calm and indifferent throughout, and whispered something in his ear.

Since Evelyn had already removed the watch, making it clear she didn't want even a hint of misunderstanding, everyone else had no reason to pursue it further. Still, the coincidence felt strange.

Brandon glanced again at Evelyn before finally sitting at the adjacent table.

Was she just that good at hiding things? At this point, he wasn't sure he understood her at all.

As she took a small sip of her drink, she swiftly organized her thoughts.

The watch had been a birthday gift from Maria, placed in their bedroom, waiting for her to retrieve it.

That executive mentioned that it was originally a couple's set, even if the brand had chosen to sell them individually.

However, she suspected Maria had intentionally ordered a pair and given one each to her and Lucas without ever mentioning they were a matching pair. Otherwise, why would Lucas be wearing his today?

Just as she was thinking this, Jonathan, sitting nearby, finally chuckled. "Everyone's really overthinking it. Ms. Reed has been married for quite a while, so maybe she bought it with her husband."

He had a good impression of Evelyn. The few times they had interacted left him impressed by her intellect. He couldn't help but speak up upon seeing everyone teasing her now.

Now that Jonathan was also saying it, it had to be true that Evelyn had a husband.

Brandon blurted out, "Who's your husband? Someone in the industry? Is he here today?"

She couldn't be bothered to respond to Brandon's question. She didn't see why her private life should be on display for these people to gossip about.

Brandon's expression grew even more complicated now that Evelyn wasn't answering him.

She was married, yet she had an ambiguous relationship with Sebastian. She even showed an interest in Lucas, who had a girlfriend.

Was she being fair to her husband? And was Sebastian willing to go along with it?

"You're right..." Sebastian drawled, his gaze sweeping the crowd as if he knew nothing. He casually followed up, inquiring, "Is he here today?"

Only then did Lucas slowly turn to look at him. His expression remained calm, as if it wouldn't matter even if Sebastian was frank.

Mason gave a dry cough and interjected with a smile, "If you all keep going about this, Ms. Reed's going to feel awkward. Let's drop the topic."

If they kept digging any further, the marriage might just be exposed. Everyone looked visibly disappointed at that after having noticed Evelyn today. She was beautiful, poised, and strikingly elegant. Some were even interested in getting to know her, but that chance was clearly gone now.

As the one at the center of it all, she remained completely composed. Instead, she simply turned and began chatting with Sebastian, her demeanor calm.

Brandon watched the scene, pursing. His gaze turned even more conflicted and unreadable.

Meanwhile, Tiffany cast a cold and arrogant glance at Evelyn. There was a hint of disdain in her eyes.
