The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Evelyn stood not far away, with the floor-to-ceiling windows offering a full view of the Class A office building across the street.

"What is it?" she asked, her mind whirring. She wondered about the potential areas where Arrowpoint Solutions might end up clashing with Flying Seal Group.

Lucas was probably still in his office, as the occasional sound of typing could be heard in the background.

He spoke unhurriedly, "I got a call from Grant Manor saying that Grandma has a bad cold and mild pneumonia. She just got back from the hospital. Do you have time to go visit her?"

Evelyn furrowed her brows instinctively, a little worried about Maria's health.

The lingering cold in early spring made it easy to fall ill.

Before she could reply, Lucas added in an indifferent tone, "Grandma told me yesterday that she prepared a birthday gift for you but hasn't had the chance to give it to you. You can pick it up while you're there."

Evelyn then remembered Maria had mentioned the gift when she called during her time in Pearlia.

"She only talks about you when she's not thinking about others. If you don't have time, forget it." Lucas didn't force the issue, his tone calm and indifferent.

"I'll visit her," responded Evelyn.

She knew clearly how Maria had treated her all these years. Regardless of whether it was for the sake of the agreement or just sentiment, she ought to pay a visit.

Gazing again at the office building across the street, Evelyn asked calmly, "The cooling-off period's almost over. Should I have Michael notify you when it's done, or should we set a time?"

"Lucas?" Tiffany's voice could be heard at the other end of the line. "Who are you calling? Take a break. I got you dinner."

The beeping tone could be heard. Lucas had hung up even though he didn't answer her question.

Evelyn wasn't unfamiliar with that kind of behavior. She calmly kept her phone away and headed inside. Since Lucas hadn't given her a clear answer, she would need to find a chance to ask.

Divorce wasn't a game, so she didn't want any missteps or unexpected changes.

After dinner, she went downstairs with Jonathan.

He probably heard a particular term earlier, so he asked, "Did you mention joint marital assets? Ms. Reed, are you going through a divorce?"

She was so young, yet she was already married?

Sebastian glanced at Evelyn before replying to Jonathan, "Don't mention it. He is a bad man and a piece of shit. He's bald, cheats, and suffers from premature

ejaculation. Ms. Reed has finally escaped this misery."

Evelyn was speechless, and Jonathan was left stunned.

Evelyn's husband was someone from their industry? That meant she hadn't officially divorced yet.

After saying a few words to Sebastian, Evelyn headed to the Grant Manor. It was still early in the day.

When she arrived, the housekeeper saw her and instantly lit up with joy, taking her bag. "Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Grant Senior is upstairs resting. She's been coughing all day and just finished her nebulizer treatment."

Evelyn nodded. "Give me the bag. There's no need to put it away. I'll be leaving shortly."

Evelyn went upstairs to Maria's room. When Maria saw her, she immediately smiled with warmth. "Evie, why have you returned so suddenly?"

She walked over and checked on Maria's condition. "I heard you were sick. Are you feeling any better now?"

Maria held her hand. "It's nothing serious. I'm old, so my immune system isn't what it used to be. I've already been to the hospital."

"Have you eaten yet?" Evelyn noticed Maria didn't look well and added, "Why don't I make you some oatmeal?"

Maria looked a little pained. "Don't trouble yourself. I just need some rest and I'll be fine."

Evelyn comforted Maria. When she realized Maria hadn't eaten, she still went downstairs to cook a bowl of oatmeal.

She knew Maria had always loved her cooking.

After the oatmeal was ready, Evelyn sat with Maria while she ate, chatting with her
