The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 215

Jason was quite calm as he said, "Fiona said you're her friend. She would be very happy if I could help you."

Fiona nodded enthusiastically.

Evelyn looked at Fiona and agreed at last. "Thank you. I owe you a favor for this."

After all, she barely had a relationship with Jason. She would not want to owe someone else a favor if it were not the last resort.

Jason could tell that Evelyn was acting distant. He hesitated, but still nodded. "Alright. I'll let you know once I set up the meeting."noveldrama

Evelyn gave an excuse and left.

Fiona watched Evelyn leave before she turned to look at Jason. "Is Evie's husband a terrible person? He's not even concerned or by her side when she's sick. I absolutely don't want to be with a man like him in the future."

Jason was at a loss for words. "Don't say this to another person in the future. Got it?" said Jason.

Fiona pursed her lips and asked, "Why?"

"She's divorced."

Fiona was shocked. She immediately regained her senses and said, "Is that true? If it is, could you pursue her, Jason? I like Evelyn."

Jason tapped Fiona's head lightly in reprimand. He looked in the direction where Evelyn left and said, "Liking someone can't be a one-way street."

Evelyn stayed away from the Holt siblings and went to talk to the doctor about her test results.

Fortunately, it was still within the anticipated range. Even though her condition did not take a turn for the better, it was good news to her as long as it did not get

worse.

She was given a new targeted medication, and it was only then that she returned to Flying Seal Group.

At 3:00 pm, Evelyn received a call from Maria.

Maria rarely ever called Evelyn during work hours, so she thought something was up and immediately answered it. "Grandma?"

Maria asked in a loving voice, "Are you busy now, Evie?"

Evelyn glanced at the time and said, "No, I'm not. How can I help you?"

It was only then that Maria asked, "Have you and Lucas settled into your home yet? How about you guys just come back and stay at Grant Manor instead?" Evelyn was confused. She did not understand what Maria meant, so she asked, "Home?"

"Aren't you guys looking for an interior designer?" Maria seemed to be in a good mood. She continued happily, "Lucas said both of you decided to redo your marital home. He already arranged for some men to clear out the furniture and knock down all the fixtures on all three floors today.

At that moment, everything seemed normal outside of their marital home. However, all the fixtures and even some walls had been knocked down.

Evelyn was stunned for a moment, but she quickly regained her senses.

Maria continued, "It's almost like a wasteland there right now. It would take a few months to have everything renovated. I was thinking-why don't you guys just come back to Grant Manor? You'll save a lot of trouble if you stay here."

It was only then that Evelyn understood what Maria was talking about.

Lucas had bought their marital home and demolished everything from top to bottom.

Evelyn was the one who had personally supervised the renovators three years ago.

She had been very meticulous about everything from the interior design to the furniture, down to every pot and pan. That was a home she had spent a lot of effort building bit by bit.

It was no wonder that Lucas never liked to go home in the past.

She was not the only one he hated. He hated everything in their shared home as well.

Lucas changed the passcode the last time and threw away her laptop and some other things.

This time, he demolished everything in there.

He knew Maria might ask her about it, but he did not tell her in advance.

They already signed and agreed to keep the divorce a secret, but was he not worried she might let it slip and say she had no idea?

As for the reason Lucas demolished the marital home, Evelyn figured he was trying to prevent Maria from going over occasionally. Otherwise, it would be very easy for her to find out that Evelyn had moved away and that they were divorced.

Since the home was demolished, there would not be any potential trouble anymore.

Evelyn looked at the calendar on the left of her desk. She circled a date with a red marker and said, "Grandma, I'm swamped at work lately. It's very far for me to commute to work from Grant Manor, so I won't be going back."
