My Dad Please Come 998
Chelsea quickly ended the call, saying the signal was bad, but Warren couldn’t shake a growing sense of unease. It felt like Chelsea was hiding something from him.
Could everything Halsey said really be true? And now that Halsey was with Chelsea, could she be in danger?
Warren immediately tried calling Chelsea again, but this time, she didn’t answer.
A cold, mechanical voice came through the line. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is unavailable. Please try again later.”
Chelsea had turned off her phone.
Warren didn’t waste a second. He pulled up Halsey’s number and hit call, but she didn’t answer either.
That same robotic voice repeated, “Sorry, the number you have dialed is unavailable. Please try again later.”
Halsey’s phone was off, too.
Why were both their phones off at the same time? Could something have happened to Halsey?
If anything happened to her or the baby, Shaun wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Thinking back on what Shaun had just said, Warren broke out in a cold sweat. Regret flooded through him. Now that he couldn’t reach either Halsey or Chelsea, panic set in. What was he supposed to do?
He had no choice but to come clean. The only thing left to do was tell Shaun the truth.
Warren rushed into the CEO’s office. “Shaun!”
Shaun, who was reviewing documents, looked up. “What’s wrong? You look pale.”
Warren stepped forward. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
Shaun set down his pen and stood. “What is it?”
“It’s about Ms. Mallin,” Warren said.
Shaun’s expression tightened. “What are you trying to say?”
Warren hesitated, then confessed, “Chelsea came to me today. She said she wanted to talk to Ms. Mallin. She knew I had the code to your villa and asked me to take her there.”
Shaun’s face changed. “And you agreed?”
Warren nodded. “Yes, I did.”
Shaun’s eyes turned sharp and cold. “So that urgent document earlier was a setup? You purposely distracted me?”
“That was Chelsea’s idea!” Warren insisted. “But don’t worry. Chelsea is our good friend. You trust her, right? She would never hurt Ms. Mallin.”
Shaun narrowed his eyes. “Do you really believe that? If she wanted to talk to Halsey, there were plenty of other ways. Why would she ask you to sneak her into the villa and then send you away?”
Warren shook his head. “That can’t be! Chelsea’s not that kind of person. I trust her.”
Shaun pulled out his phone and dialed Halsey.
No answer.
His face darkened instantly. “I can’t reach her. When I left earlier, everything was fine. She would never ignore my call…unless something’s happened!”
Warren still didn’t want to believe it. Deep down, he couldn’t bring himself to doubt Chelsea. He really did see her as a friend.
“Shaun, let’s not jump to conclusions. Let’s just go back to the villa. Maybe Ms. Mallin’s still there.”
Shaun grabbed his car keys. “Let’s go!”
He drove as fast as he could, with Warren in the passenger seat. When they arrived at the villa, Shaun opened the door and ran noveldrama
inside.
“Halsey?”
There was no reply.
The huge villa was completely silent.
For the past couple of days, Shaun had been staying home with Halsey and the baby. He had even been preparing all the meals himself, since the housekeeper happened to be on leave.
But now, the place was empty.
Halsey was gone.
