Chapter 2568
Frank naturally knew what Laura meant to say. "I understand where you're coming from, but I believe I really have to get involved here."
And with that, he strode toward the abandoned apartment construction site.
As soon as he stepped inside, he felt a sinister gust of wind pelting his face, and it felt just like the energy of the spiritron vein.
Frank followed that energy deeper into the abandoned apartment construction site and soon found a skull on the first floor. It was lit with a ghostly flame, and several burly men were kowtowing repeatedly to it.
They did not stop even as their foreheads bled, and their eyes were an eerie green, as if they were controlled.
It was not surprising that the other burly men would say that the place was haunted-was anyone capable of staying fearless at the sight of this?
"Interesting!"
Frank strode up and reached toward the skull.
The ghostfire in it suddenly spread, and the skull itself gaped as if to devour Frank... only for Frank to hold it in place, and the ghostfire faded with just a wave.
At the same time, the burly men abruptly recovered.
They stared at Frank in disbelief and did not hesitate to kowtow again, albeit to Frank this time. "Thank you for saving us!"
"Stop it!" Frank quickly said. "Your heads are bleeding. Get up!"
It still took some persuasion for them to stand up, and Frank asked, "How did you boys get here?"
One of the burly men, who towered well over six feet, explained, "We're actually the proprietors of this abandoned apartment project. Our developer refused to honor our agreement or hand over the building, so we demanded to meet him in person.
"The developer agreed to it and told us to meet him here. Yet, not only did he never show up, but we also ran into that strange skull! As you must've seen, we were possessed against our wills by countless vile spirits and would've been dead if not for you."
Frank nodded—they had certainly been inches away from dying just now.
However, the phenomenon was hardly as otherworldly as they had put it that ghostfire must be the manifestation of a spell thato bewitched them.
"You should leave-now!" he told them.
The burly men were ready to turn and leave but soon stopped and asked Frank, "What about you?"
"I'm staying." Frank smiled. "It's

"Exactly. Just listen to us—we're not worth your life!"
Frank smiled, shaking his head. "I'm no hero—I'm just staying to bully the baddies. Just go!"
The burly men kept trying to reason with Frank nonetheless, and they only left when they saw that he was not budging.
An hour later, there was another burst of cold wind, and Frank turned to see a figure descending rapidly before him.
The man was in his forties, sporting a cassock and a crew cut while holding a string of prayer beads in his palm.
He frowned as he studied Frank. "H-How did you dispel my ghostfire, kid?"
"With my hands, naturally." Frank chuckled.
Crewcut smirked. "You can't be lucky all the time kid. It's high time you leave."
"Color me surprised... You're no wanton butcher!"noveldrama
Frank appeared amused. "Well, fine. I'll spare your life for that alone, as long as you tell me who hired you!"
What do you think?
