Cade smiled. "Well, now that the nasty family is dealt with, why don't I buy you two lunch? I've yet to repay you for saving my skin before!"

Frank was going to refuse when Laura hurried up to them. "Wait a moment!"

"What?" Jada snorted. "You're not going to ask us to pay their medical bill, are you?"

Laura quickly shook her head and smiled. "No, you misunderstand. Those three deserve it, and I'd never help them in a million years... I'd just like to know how your friend woke that geezer up earlier.

"All the medical readings indicated that it would take him a couple of days to regain consciousness... In fact, I'm quite sure you're the reason he was stable enough to be transferred out of the ICU, yes?"

Jada nodded before Frank could answer. "That's right! I won't lie-Mr. Frankton's an incredible healer whom none of you could match!"

Laura nodded "You're right. He's a healer who must prefer anonymity, so may I ask for a favor?"

"For what, to save some rich bigwig?" Jada snorted. "Don't bother-Mr. Frankton has standards. He would pay to save the poor, but if it's the rich, he couldn't be bothered even if paid!"

"No, she's an ordinary civilian!" Laura quickly shook her head. "You know how expensive medical bills and medicine can get, and there are plenty who can't afford it. Complicated diseases would inevitably torment them for life.

"However, your friend managed to cure that geezer without the use of medicine at all. So I was wondering if he could offer a helping hand?"

Frank was immediately interested. "I could give it a shot!"

On the other hand, seeing that his plans might go up in smoke, Cade quickly asked, "But you haven't had lunch yet, right? Why don't we have lunch before going?"

Jada immediately spoke on Frank's behalf. "We can do that anytime, but ailing patients can't wait, right, Mr. Frankton?"

Frank nodded. "You're absolutely right. Let's do that whenever we meet again."

"Okay..." Cade felt deflated nonetheless.

Honestly, that doctor could have just asked Frank some other time. Why did it have to be now? It was almost as if she was intent on messing with his plans!

Later, Frank, Jada, and Laura arrived at a nearby village.

Though it was a village, it did not appear all that impoverished. In fact, it had considerably benefited

Jada sighed. "Things are really better now. And here I thought villages would still

be backwater, but they're pretty much keeping up with the times."

Frank nodded. "We should travel more to get a better picture of villages these days."

As they chatted, the trio were soon outside the patient's door.

Laura quickly knocked, and an elderly woman soon answered it.

Her name was Charmaine Bingham, and her complexion was terrible-her illness was clearly at an advanced stage.

Nonetheless, she forced a smile when she saw Laura. "What are you doing here, Dr. Layton?"

"I came to visit!" Laura shouted, since Charmaine was old and losing her hearing.

Unable to hear Laura, she merely gestured for Frank, Jada, and Laura to enter her hut.

As they entered, Charmaine gestured for them to sit, before asking Laura again,

Laura raised her voice once more. "He's a new doctor I just met! He might be able to cure you!"

The elderly woman understood this
