The baby was his.

He and Eve were having another child together.

Charles was so overwhelmed, his eyes stung with tears.

Once Mrs. Robinson accepted Evelyn, the last of her worries melted away.

She threw herself into planning the engagement party.

Since Evelyn was pregnant, Mrs. Robinson knew a custom dress would take time, but she didn't want Evelyn to feel slighted.

So she spent millions on a handful of designer couture gowns, just for Evelyn.

Today, she brought Evelyn in to try them on.

She wanted the best for her future daughter-in-law.

Evelyn was genuinely touched, but her heart twisted with guilt.

She knew Mrs. Robinson's kindness was mostly because she believed the baby was Brooks'.

Evelyn wasn't sure she deserved it.

But she couldn't tell Mrs. Robinson the truth.

"As long as you like them, that's all I care about. Go on, try them!"

Brooks had wanted to come along today, but Mrs. Robinson insisted on keeping it a surprise.

"Alright," Evelyn replied, following her into the fitting room.

She was just about to slip into a dress when her phone, left on the side, started ringing.

Assuming it was a work call, she picked up. "Hello? Who is this?"

"Eve, it's me. We need to talk."

Charles' old number had long been blocked, so he had to call from a different one.

Evelyn didn't want to waste a single breath on him. "Charles, I have nothing to say to you."

Her tone was icy. She was about to hang up.

And before long, the figure he'd been longing to see appeared in his view.

Evelyn walked over to Mrs. Robinson.

She had no idea what Charles wanted, but this wasn't the time to take chances.

Forcing a smile, she made up an excuse about urgent work.

"It's fine, come back and try the dresses when you're done. Eve, you okay to drive yourself? Or should

Mrs. Robinson's concern was genuine.

"Aunt Josephine, I can drive myself, thank you," Evelyn said, smiling.

As soon as she'd made her excuses, Evelyn's face went cold as she headed downstairs.

She didn't go straight to Charles' car.

Instead, she got in her own, drove around the corner-out of Mrs Robinson's sight-and only pulled over somewhere quiet.

As she stepped out, Charles, who'd been following her, got out too.

A few long strides and he was at her side, pulling her into his arms, holding her

tight without saying a word.
