The Day Our Promise Breaks

Chapter 423

"Yeah, Evelyn, if you're saying I'm not Debbie, then where's your proof?"

Dahlia swiftly wiped away her tears, projecting an air of righteousness and

confidence as she faced Evelyn. Yet, whenever Charles wasn't watching, she shot Evelyn a defiant glance from behind his shoulder.

Her eyes seemed to challenge, "Come on, prove it if you can."

Dahlia thrived on watching Evelyn, who knew the truth yet was completely powerless. What could Evelyn do? Claiming she was Debbie wouldn't convince Charles.

The only person who could prove Dahlia wasn't who she pretended to be couldn't speak now. So, what was there to worry about?

As soon as Charles asked, "Do you have any evidence?" Evelyn began to calm down. Her childhood memories with Charles were foggy, and with her mom in a coma thanks to Dahlia's plotting, Evelyn had no way to prove she was the real Debbie.

Frustrated by Charles's blind support for Dahlia, she had blurted out in anger that Dahlia wasn't Debbie, even though she had no proof.

Now, with Charles's skepticism and no evidence to back her claim, prolonging the argument was pointless. Continuing would just humiliate her.

Two years ago, she realized that without concrete evidence to throw in Charles's face, he'd never believe her.

Evelyn squeezed her fists tightly, taking deep breaths to suppress the anger and resentment surging inside her. In no time, she forced herself to regain her composure.

She didn't have evidence for Charlie and her grandmother's deaths, but this time, she had a witness who could attest to Dahlia's scheme against her mother.

Evelyn looked at Dahlia with icy determination. Without wasting another moment, she pulled out her phone and dialed the police right in front of them. "Hello, I need to Report a crime. Dahlia is suspected of conspiring to harm my mother." Cóntent belongs to

Evelyn's words instantly froze the smug smile on Dahlia's face. She instinctively looked over at the nurse, who was curled up and unconscious near the door.

Dahlia had come here hoping to relish in Evelyn's suffering. Two years ago, she'd seen Evelyn fall apart when Charlie, that little brat, died. Now, with her mother reduced to a living corpse, she expected Evelyn to crumble once more. noveldrama

For Dahlia, seeing Evelyn in pain was satisfying. But she hadn't counted on Evelyn having the nerve to accuse her in front of Charles, even without evidence.

Unaware of the hospital room events before this, Dahlia understood one thing from Evelyn's accusation: this lowlife was trying to drag her down.

Dahlia didn't know what the nurse might have said, but in the face of uncertainty, she kept her cool. One thought reigned supreme in her mind under no circumstances would she admit to anything.

Glaring at Evelyn with feigned outrage, Dahlia snapped, "Evelyn, have you lost it? What nonsense are you spouting? Will you only be satisfied once you've pinned a crime on me?"
