Chapter 346
Wesley got the VIP treatment from Brooks' bodyguards, who "invited" him over to one of Brooks' places. Even with his mouth muffled, Wesley was cursing up a storm and putting up quite the fight all the way there. But that all came to a screeching halt when he was ushered inside.
Spotting Evelyn lounging on the sofa, he froze. Suspicion painted across his features, he demanded, "What do you want, Evelyn? You know murder's a no-no, right?"
He'd messed with her brakes on purpose, hoping she'd crash and either end up dead or seriously hurt. Yet, here she was, very much alive. And thanks to that, he got out early. Now, he was sweating bullets, thinking she might want payback.
"Do you even deserve it?" Brooks kicked Wesley hard, knocking him flat on the floor. Wesley had a habit of projecting his own sleaze onto others.
Writhing in pain, Wesley clutched his stomach, but his eyes still screamed suspicion. "If this isn't about causing me grief, why drag me here like this?"
Evelyn wasn't one for small talk. She tossed some photos of Wesley with Sandy right at his feet, and cut to the chase: "Sandy is your daughter."
No beating around the bush, just straight-up facts. Wesley's eyes widened, but he tried to keep it together, acting like he didn't care a bit about Sandy. Rapidly, he shot back, "No way!"
But his over-the-top denial only gave him away. "Who's this daughter? I don't know her at all! Just some random coincidence!"
Evelyn then threw a paternity test report in front of him. "Then, what's this?"
Wesley had his suspicions about Sandy's parentage before. Behind Dahlia's back, he'd done his own paternity test, so he knew exactly what that report meant.
Finally, Wesley's tough exterior cracked, and he glared daggers at Evelyn Evelyn, I'm the one who fiddled with your brakes. If you want revenge, fine, come for me. But leave my daughter out of it."
He thought Evelyn had uncovered Sandy's link to him and would use it against the girl. "I'm warning you, if you lay a finger on Sandy, I'll go to any lengths, even risk my own life, to make you pay!"
Evelyn noted his fierce protection of Sandy, solidifying her belief in Sandy's importance to him.
"Wesley, someone's been hurting Sandy, but it's not me—it's Dahlia."
Wesley let out a scornful laugh. No way did he buy that. Dahlia hurting Sandy?
Not a chance. She adored him and, by extension, loved Sandy too. Hurting their daughter was out of the question.noveldrama
Evelyn wasn't getting anything out of him against Dahlia. He refused to be a pawn in her game.
"Delilah," Evelyn called out, and Dahlia's housekeeper stepped forward.
Delilah didn't know Wesley because every time he visited Dahlia, she'd send Delilah off for the day. But Wesley, having kept a close eye on Sandy, recognized her.
"Ms. Evelyn's telling the truth. Ms. Dahlia often treated Sandy poorly. I didn't see it myself, but whenever Ms. Dahlia got upset, she'd call Sandy into her room. Sandy would come
out with red eyes, and net
sometimes, you could see she'd been slapped."
Dahlia was slick about keeping it under wraps.
What do you think?
