Chapter 681 Owe You
Randall stood by the bed, looking at the corner of Susan's blanket. He tried twice but couldn't overcome the hurdle in his heart. For a straightforward man like him, lifting the blanket of a sleeping girl felt inappropriate. Even though he just wanted to hold Susan and put her to bed properly.
Randall had been taught by Patrick since he was young, and his behavior was quite similar to Patrick's. He was also often taught by Cindy that boys should be gentlemen. As a result, he was always courteous to Susan.
So, he pushed Susan's shoulder, "Wake up, lie down, and sleep, don't sleep sitting up."
Susan was in a deep sleep and it was hard to wake her up.
Randall pushed Susan harder, almost knocking her over.
Seeing Susan's body tilt to one side, Randall instinctively knelt on one leg on Susan's blanket and used his other hand to hold her neck. Susan was startled and woke up.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Randall's chest. Looking up, she saw the person she had been waiting for. "Randall."
Randall felt relieved, "Why did you fall asleep sitting up?"
"I was waiting for you and fell asleep while reading. Randall, I was at my uncle's house tonight, and you didn't come to pick me up." Susan's tone was full of grievance. She was used to being picked up and dropped off, and she felt a bit disappointed that Randall didn't come this time.
Randall said, "I didn't pick you up because I thought you were staying at Cherry Villa tonight. How did you get back?" Randall asked again.
Susan replied, "The butler went to pick up Grandpa, and I hitched a ride back."
She rubbed her eyes and yawned, completing the set of actions in front of Randall.
Susan finally woke up, "Randall, did you just get back?"
Randall answered, "No, I've been back for a while, just stayed in the room. What were you waiting for?"
"I wanted to ask you how your conversation with Vera and Molly went. If you don't want to talk about it, that's okay."
Randall said, "Go to sleep, we'll talk tomorrow. I'm going to the library tomorrow, are you coming?"
"Yes!"
Randall smiled, knowing that Susan loved to follow him. "Sleep, see you tomorrow." Watching Randall's departing figure, Susan pouted, it seemed Randall didn't want to tell her.
So she decided not to be curious.
She suddenly woke up from a nap, and now she couldn't fall back asleep.
Susan started staring wide-eyed like Teddy, one waking up crying loudly at night, the other bored and checking Randall's level on her phone.
At Cherry Villa, Theodore woke up and didn't see his parents, feeling very aggrieved, crying so loudly that his cries echoed throughout the house.
When Patrick came over, Theodore's face was red from crying, his little mouth no longer its usual pink, his bright red lips parted, and tears were falling drop by drop.

Patrick, shirtless, held Theodore, hugging his soft, chubby body. Theodore's back was sweaty from crying.
He carried Theodore back to the bedroom.
Vera, too sleepy to open her eyes, bent down to pick up the pajamas Patrick had thrown on the floor, put them on, and quickly walked towards Patrick and Theodore, holding the very aggrieved Theodore to her chest.
"I'm here, don't cry, baby." Vera rhythmically patted Theodore's back, letting him feel her presence, then said to Patrick, "Honey, go to the closet and get Theodore's light blue pajamas that we just put away today. His clothes are soaked with sweat."
Patrick walked into the closet, which was organized by Vera. Patrick admired Vera's housekeeping skills; she managed their clothes and their child's clothes in the closet without needing help from the maids, keeping everything neat and well-categorized. Patrick went straight to Theodore's small wardrobe, which used to be his tie storage area, now filled with Theodore's baby clothes. Theodore had more socks than he did.
He took out a set of clothes and brought them out. Theodore's crying had already lessened.
Drinking milk, Theodore was being undressed by Vera while she complained, "I take care of your dad in the first half of the night, and you in the second half. What do I owe you two?"
Neither the father nor the son in the bedroom spoke. Patrick looked at the red marks on Vera's chest, thinking of his handiwork, and said nothing. Theodore didn't care about any of this; he sucked on his "midnight snack," his little hand holding on, occasionally pinching, and then getting a light slap from Vera.
When Theodore cried, he only wanted Vera to hold him. Sometimes Vera would get tired, wanting to lose her temper, but looking at Theodore's face, all her anger would disappear. Sometimes she wanted to argue with Patrick, feeling that she was raising Theodore all day and Patrick was always demanding of her. But then she thought about how Patrick worked all day, came home, and took care of Theodore, getting up more times at night than she did, and she felt no resentment.
Any occasional displeasure in her heart would vanish when she saw Theodore's cuteness and Patrick's smile when he came home and saw her and their child.

The couple each took a side, placing Theodore in the middle, and encouraging him to practice sitting and listening to his baby talk.
The baby's babbling was like a lullaby. "Honey, I can't hold on anymore. I'll sleep for half an hour, then we'll switch, and I'll chat with him while you sleep."noveldrama
Patrick smiled, reaching out to stroke Vera's head, his eyes full of affection. "Sleep."
"Remember to wake me."
"Okay."
As expected, Patrick didn't wake her. Vera woke up to a bright morning.
In her arms was none other than the crying, restless baby Theodore from last night.
Seeing Theodore sleeping peacefully, Vera couldn't help but kiss him. She poked his cheek, "You can sleep in too. I thought you could stay awake and cry all day and night. What's wrong, are you tired? Weren't you quite capable, of tormenting my husband until late last night? Get up, cry, weren't you crying... Oh, Teddy, don't cry, don't cry, sleep, I'll sleep with you." Vera had just said half of it when Theodore seemed to sense it, his little mouth pouting, his body moving slightly, ready to wake up and cry. Vera was scared and quickly hugged him, carefully coaxing him.
Molly rarely woke up early, watching Sebastian change clothes in the closet, smiling.
After a while, Sebastian changed into another outfit, looking in the mirror at the red marks on his neck, still not covered. Mr. Chase looked at Molly's mischievous smile on the bed and resignedly picked up another outfit.
"Sebastian, do you want to borrow my turtleneck sweater for a week? But it's summer, won't you be hot wearing a turtleneck?" Molly enjoyed teasing Sebastian.
What do you think?
