Chapter 525 A Chance to Make Up
That person was none other than Michael's mother, the child's grandmother, Scarlett.
Scarlett's presence felt like a heavy weight on Emily's mind, always there, always oppressive.
Emily knew Scarlett only dared to act so recklessly because Mason didn't want to kick her out of the Smith family and tarnish their reputation. Plus, he didn't want Michael and Veda to lose their mother.
But now that Emily was a mother herself, she increasingly felt that someone like Scarlett didn't deserve to be a mother at all.
Emily took a deep breath, determined not to back down anymore.
But as she watched Michael chatting and laughing with Andrew, completely shedding his CEO personas, Emily hesitated.
Michael was rarely this happy.
He must be so proud to have such an adorable son.
Did she really have to shatter this warm moment and drag him back into turmoil?
But if she didn't, what would Scarlett do once she found out she had given birth? Scarlett had never given Michael motherly love, only trouble.
Emily's heart was in turmoil. She gently stroked her child's face, her eyes filled with confusion.
Meanwhile, at the Smith Mansion
Scarlett lay on her bed, hands clenched, her gaze icy. The scent of the burning incense on the table did nothing to calm her; it felt like an unquenchable fire was burning inside her.
Emily had actually given birth, which was completely unexpected.
This woman was truly resilient. Scarlett had tried to make trouble for her as soon as she returned to the country, yet Emily had not only survived but also given birth to a
son.
What should she do now?
The more Scarlett thought about it, the angrier she became. She wanted to rush to the hospital and deal with Emily herself!
In truth, Scarlett didn't hate Emily that much.
She just couldn't tolerate anyone threatening her position in the Smith family.
Michael had completely lost any motherly affection for her, let alone respect. He didn't even think of leaving her any shares of the Smith Corporation, giving everything to Emily instead.
They were divorced!
It was a joke!
And then there was Veda, her own daughter whom she had carried for ten months.
Veda not only didn't help her but also constantly defended Emily, claiming it was all for Michael's sake.
What about her? She was Veda's mother!
It was heartbreaking!
Scarlett's fingers tightened, her knuckles turning white.
She let out a cold snort, determined to strike again.
She knew that if Emily returned to the Smith Mansion with her child, they would be nothing but obstacles in her path!
A ruthless glint flashed in Scarlett's eyes. She had to come up with another plan; she wouldn't let Emily and her child live in peace.
Just as Scarlett was plotting, there was a gentle knock on the door.
"Mrs. Smith, it's time for dinner."

Already irritated, Scarlett was even more annoyed by the interruption. "Dinner? Get out! Don't bother me! I'm not in the mood to eat!"
The person outside hesitated, sighed softly, and quietly left.
Scarlett had nowhere to vent her anger.
She glared at the ceiling, a sinister look in her eyes, plotting how to get Emily and her child out of her sight. Suddenly, there was a commotion at the door, followed by a forceful push.
Mason stormed in, his face dark with anger, his eyes glaring at Scarlett.
"What? Scarlett, do we need to invite you to dinner now?"
Scarlett was stunned. She never expected Mason to burst into her room with a cane and start mocking her!
Great, just great. The Smith family was increasingly treating her like she didn't matter! And he was her father-in-law, after all. How could he be so disrespectful?
Scarlett was momentarily speechless, her mouth opening and closing without knowing what to say.
Seeing this, Mason snorted coldly, slamming his cane down. "As a member of the Smith family, you have no manners! Don't you know Emily just gave birth? That's the Smith family's grandson, and you haven't even looked at him, just lying here with your incense!"
With that, Mason swung his cane, smashing the incense on the bedside table.
The incense shattered on the floor, and Scarlett screamed.
"Dad! What are you doing!" Scarlett was afraid of Mason, but that incense was her favorite.
And Mason had humiliated her in front of Benjamin and the other servants. It was too much!

"No one told me Emily gave birth! How was I supposed to know? And since I came back, she hasn't visited me once. She disrespected me first. Why should I go to her..." Scarlett always twisted the truth.
Mason was so angry he could barely contain himself. "Do you think I'm senile? You can't fool me!
"The last time I asked her to come to the Smith Mansion, you sat in the living room, saw her pregnant, and didn't show any concern. Instead, you insulted her friends!
"When Emily left, I didn't need you to arrange a car or anything, but you should have at least said something. Don't disgrace our family!"
Mason's voice was loud and clear.
The servants in the Smith family all heard it. Even those who didn't would soon hear about it.
It was a perfect opportunity to gossip about her.
"I... I." Scarlett wanted to argue.
But she couldn't find the words. She swallowed her anger and apologized to Mason.
"Dad, I know I was wrong. I'll go visit Emily now. She did bring a new member to our family."
Scarlett practically spat out the words.
Her smile looked painfully forced.
Mason didn't want to argue with her anymore.
He wanted to maintain family harmony, which led to this situation.
"Fine, go." Mason said earnestly. "I'll give you a chance to make up for this."
What do you think?
