The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 200

Chapter 200

“Mr. Reed, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Avery Lamour said. She was aware that the woman who had previously been prettier than most celebrities was Wyatt Reed’s ex-wife. In person, that woman was even more stunning. The internet was buzzing about Ivy and Wyatt’s romance, but Avery didn’t mind. There was nothing to be concerned about because they were already divorced. Although Avery’s family background was not comparable to that of that woman, she was willing to bow down and obey him as long as she could marry him. No man, in her opinion, liked women who were too powerful. Her attempt to greet Wyatt was met with silence. She noticed that Wyatt’s cold gaze was always fixed on Ivy and Marco when she looked up. Avery took a step forward, gritting her teeth. “I’ll persuade you to rest somewhere else?” Wyatt said angrily, “Don’t touch me,” before her hand touched his wheelchair. Her hand froze in mid-air. Wyatt’s tone was apathetic and devoid of warmth. “No one is permitted to touch the area where she touched.” Wyatt would not allow anyone, especially a woman, to erase Ivy’s traces on his wheelchair that she had touched earlier. Avery’s face flushed instantly with shame and embarrassment. “I-I apologize.” Avery had no intention of leaving after apologizing. She retracted her hand with trepidation and bit her lower lip. “Shall I get you something to eat, Mr. Reed?” Wyatt knitted his brows and tried to keep the impatient look in his eyes at bay. “There’s no need.” Wyatt could only tolerate Gil Lamour’s personality because they were business partners. Still, he was not in the habit of attending to a business partner’s daughter, especially since Gil Lamour had previously offended Ivy. Wyatt’s phone rang at that precise moment. When he picked it up, he saw that it belonged to Don

Reed. He swept a glance at Avery Lamour after a brief pause. Avery immediately realized what was going on and moved three meters away. He answered the phone. “Hello?” “Have you had any success with Ivy Morgan after all this time?” Don Reed’s voice was strong, hoarse, and old. Wyatt’s face became slightly frosty. “Why?” Don Reed mumbled. “I considered it. You put the company’s concerns aside and spent so much time with this woman. If it still comes to naught, then forget it. It is preferable to cut your losses. In any case, a marriage alliance with the Morgans isn’t our only option. If we keep doing this, others will think we’re a joke!” Wyatt’s eyes were bitterly cold and covered in frost. ‘Impossible.’ He couldn’t possibly give up on Ivy. Even if it were a lost cause, Wyatt would be willing to risk his entire fortune for her. Don Reed was enraged. “How much longer are you going to be dumb for a woman?” “Do you have anything else?” Wyatt’s voice was clear and cold as if he didn’t want to hear his grandfather’s lecture again. “I don’t care what you think,” Don Reed said. “A woman cannot destroy Reed Corporation! I’ve made it known that I intend to look for a suitable match for you. Many people are eager to contact us. Let me remind you not to get too focused on one woman.” Wyatt’s eyes were as cold as ice. “I don’t want anyone else besides Ivy!” “Bastard! Don’t be taken in by her. Lamour Corporation’s Chairman from Western New York called me first thing in the morning. He has a lovely daughter who grew up in another country and is eager to marry. They’re not as good as Morgan Corporation, but they’re our old partners with good family backgrounds. I’ll arrange for you two to meet when the opportunity arises.” Don Reed’s words were firm. “Stop squandering your time on Ivy. She’s had scandals with male celebrities left and right, including one with Marco Seely. Which family would accept a woman with more scandals than you? How can

we still command respect from others if she marries into our family?” Wyatt’s gaze swept over Avery Lamour, who was standing at the side obediently. The cold light in his eyes slashed through her like a knife. Avery was tense and unsure of what she had done wrong. She wanted to look into his eyes more closely, but he had already shifted his gaze. Was it joy or disappointment? Wyatt pursed his thin lips. His skin tone was dark and unappealing. “You can marry her yourself if you want a marriage alliance. Ivy is my only option.” Wyatt then hung up the phone. His body emitted a thick chill. People in the area who wanted to say hello to Wyatt were afraid to approach him. Avery Lamour returned after noticing he had hung up the phone. “Mr. Reed, would you like something to drink?” she asked softly after carefully examining his face. Wyatt cast a glance at her. His thin lips parted slightly, and his voice was icy. “Go tell Gil Lamour not to rely on me.” Avery froze for a moment before blinking. “I-I’m not sure what you mean.” Wyatt raised his head and looked her in the eyes. Avery was taken aback by the coldness in his eyes, which was both powerful and shocking. “Too much ambition.” That was all he had to say to her. Wyatt saw right through Avery Lamour’s little thoughts in one fell swoop. She felt slapped in the face because her cheeks were burning, but there was nowhere for her to run. Wyatt represented Avery’s excessive ambition. Her eyes turned bright red as tears streamed down her cheeks. She turned around and fled. When they saw this scene, the people around them wept. They used to sympathize with Ivy, but now they sympathize with that helpless girl. Ivy simply did not notice Wyatt’s movements. She sat with Marco for a while before moving around to mingle with others. Everyone there was a friend, so it wasn’t awkward. Ivy felt a little warm after drinking wine and wanted to get some fresh air. She smiled and turned to

face Marco. “I’m going to use the restroom. I’ll be right back.” Marco nodded politely and led her to one end of the promenade while pointing to the other. “It’s right at the end.” “Thanks.” Ivy approached. The crisp sound of her high heels echoed off the marble walls of the long corridor. As she approached the corner, she heard a woman sobbing inside. “Why are you crying? Wyatt Reed will not even look at you, even if he is paralyzed. You’re so useless!” The shrill female voice was harsh and mocking, with a hint of smugness. Joy Lamour, Avery Lamour’s half-sister, was the one who spoke up. This illegitimate daughter would not have a chance to marry Wyatt Reed if Joy was not already married. Joy was scolding and humiliating Avery for being ineffective, but she was secretly pleased that Wyatt Reed did not like Avery. Ivy took a breather and frowned. Ivy openly walked to the other side of the promenade, thinking there was no way to avoid it because there was no reason for her to hide. She noticed two similar-looking women standing nearby and expected them to leave after noticing her, but they did not. Avery sobbed angrily, biting her lower lip. Joy sat with her arms folded. She then reached out and viciously pinched Avery’s waist. Avery didn’t dare to flinch. She appeared to be accustomed to being bullied because she did not attempt to fight back. They still didn’t notice Ivy standing there, so Ivy could only watch the show helplessly. She had no intention of probing. “I’ll do my best...” Joy scowled. “An indecent person like you will not look elegant even in the most expensive clothes. It’s no surprise Wyatt Reed doesn’t want to look at you. If it weren’t for the Lamour blood that flows

through your veins, a shameless homewrecker’s daughter like you wouldn’t even deserve a day in the sun.”NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
