MISTAKE 160
Chapter 160: The plight of the Jones,
Her mind raced as she struggled to make sense of the unthinkable situation Cold one of Martin’s nieces have made an underhanded move to take over the property while he conddet protest? She knew his relationship with his sister’s children was complicated after what he did, but surely they wouldn’t go so far as to leave her homeless while their cowm thee will
lived.
Old Mrs Jones was fighting for her life after her stroke and her daughters had disappad
In a last–ditch effort to stop whatever madness was unfolding, Gina dialed emergency services with shaking fingers. “I need police assistance right away,” she told the operator urgently.” There are trespassers in my home refusing to leave”
It wasn’t long before the authorities arrived, sirens walling. But to Gina’s utter bewilderment and dismay, the two officers who strode through her front door didn’t seem interested in removing the movers at all.
“Ma’am, I’m afraid we’re going to have to ask you to leave the premises,” one of the officers stated in a tone that made it clear he would accept no arguments.
“What? Why?” she sputtered, panic gripping her chest. “This is my home with my husband! These people are trespassing!”
The officer shook his head somberly. “That’s not the case, ma’am. We were informed by the owner that you would likely refuse to vacate. This home was legitimately put into their name before your husband Martin fell into an unresponsive coma.”
Gina felt as though she’d been punched in the gut, all the air rushing from her lungs in one dizzyingly painful burst. Could it be true? Had Martin’s own child from a previous relationship made a decisive move to take over the property while he lay trapped in that endless slumber? Regardless of who was behind it, the idea that she could so easily be forced from her home was
unthinkable.
The sheer, blinding rage that rushed through Gina’s veins in that moment was enough to steal what little remained of her rationality. With an incoherent cry of anger, she snatched up a nearby vase, gripping it tightly as if to hurl it towards the officers until several of the movers moved to restrain her.
“That’s enough of that,” one of the men grunted as they wrenched the large ceramic vase from her grasp. “We were told you’d put up a fight, but you need to pack it in now.”
”
“You can’t do this!” Gina howled, struggling against their restraining holds: “Martin is still alive! He’s my husband and this is our home!”
But her screams were of no use, as all the officers there stared in unbending silence at her. In
her
rage and self–abuse, her thoughts ended with acknowledging her utter inability to stop
the tumed so far as they were covered, they placed no significance on her resting and holding her ground, their orders were to throw her out with whatever force
With wear nod from the officer, two of the burlier movers began half dragging, half- carrying Gina’s trading form toward the front door as she began to scream expletives. There was no other course of
action for her other than to be expelled from her home like some trespassing criminal, thrown out into the street without even the slightest touch of being legally grounded.
When the door slammed shut behind her, Gine fell on the front steps, biting back panic and tage Where could she go from here? What injustice had been laid upon her and Martin while helay prostrate and defenseless? Sucking in a ragged breath, she swore she would find out the
by truth of this treatury and make whoever was responsible for it pay for having stolen her home from right under her feet.
Gina’s hands shook with rage as she jabbed Emma’s number into her phone. How dare that ungrateful girl sell the family home right out from under her? The ringing felt interminable until finally, Emma’s voice came through the line
Hello? Who is this?” Emma asked, sounding slightly wary.
Gina didn’t bother with pleasantries. “You evil little snake! How could you sell your Uncle’s house? I just got thrown out on the street by police like some common criminal!” she screamed into the phone.
There was a pause, and then Emma let out a cold laugh that raised the hairs on the back of Gina’s neck. “That home doesn’t belong to my Uncle. It was my mother’s house that she left to me when she passed away.”
Gina froze, Emma’s words not making any sense, Martin’s late ex–wife had owned that mansion? But how? RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
As if reading her mind, Emma continued in that chillingly even tone. “My mother inherited that house from her father. Why didn’t uncle’s father give her one? He just deluded himself into thinking it was his after he tricked her for years and sat there as the owner.”
“What does that mean?” Gina asked.
“What do you think? Why would he leave nothing to grandmother and her son if he is his
“B–But it doesn’t matter…I’m your Uncle’s wife!” Gina sputtered. “He’s trapped in a coma right now, helpless! How could you do this to him while he’s so vulnerable?”
“You mean how could I treat him the way he treated my sister and I our entire lives?” Emma retorted. “Leaving us to fend for ourselves emotionally and physically while he ignored us in favor of surrounding himself with sycophants and yes–women like you?”

“Oliver
I know all about the depths of your ‘devotion‘ to my Uncle, Gina. About how to kill him and he fell into his coma because he found out you had cheated on him and tried to transfer away his property.”
“That’s a vicious liel” Gina cried.
“A lie? My sister sent over documents proving that you had cheated and on the same night, he gets into an accident and all the documents go missing from his laptop. Is that what a person would call coincidence?” Emma asked.
“What cheating documents? Why haven’t I ever heard of this?” Gina denied.
“So, it is a coincidence,” Emma said.
“Yes! No matter what? He is your Uncle! What will people say when they hear that you have thrown him out of his home while he is in a coma?” she asked..
Emma’s tone turned arctic. “Who cares about an uncle that did nothing when his niece and grandnephew were bullied for years? His life and death has nothing to do with me the moment he heard that I was filing for a divorce to save my son’s life and he cared more about how it would affect his deal with my former in laws.”
Anger rushed to Gina’s head as she shouted, “What about your cousins, Kelsey and Courtney? Even if you don’t care about your uncle and I, what about them?”
“You mean that son you had outside?” Emma scoffed, “I don’t have anything else to say to you, Gina. This was my home, legally and morally, and I chose to sell it. Whatever happens next is not up to you.
The line went dead. Gina stared at her phone, utterly unmoored. Could it be true had Martin deceitfully lied about his ownership of the mansion for all these years? She didn’t want to believe it, but Emma’s words seemed to stem from some sort of truth.
Gina knew she needed to get to the bottom of this before she went madder than she already felt. Steeling herself, she turned on her heel and headed straight for the hospital where Martin had been in his comatose state for weeks.
As she entered his room, the sight of his motionless body hooked up to an array of beeping machines, her face twisted darkly. Martin had always been such a dynamic, robust force of nature in their marriage. It was very satisfying to see him there, unable to move, unable to look down on her. She almost felt the need to spit at him.
