The Bad Boy Next Room (Charlie and Taylor)

Chapter 74

Chapter 40: Charlie's Grandfather

"Are you okay, Dad? So, you know Charlie's grandfather?" Savannah asked.

Taylor, on the other hand, gave Charlie a questioning look. He mouthed, 'What's going on, Babe?'

"Wait. Wait. Maybe I am overthinking this," Douglas Carrington said, raising his hand. He took out his phone and called someone. Moments later, he answered, "Charles! Good evening. Listen, I know it's late - no, no. It's not about the residential building project in Suncrest Valley. It's - it's -"

The governor hesitated, staring at Charlie. "You see, Charles, I happened to meet a young girl who is friends with my grandsons. Now that I think about it, she somewhat reminds me of your wife. Do you know a certain Charlie Rae King?"

'Oh, my god! Is the governor really speaking to her grandfather?' Charlie was screaming inside, her heart racing. She did not know what they discussed next, but Charlie saw Douglas' eyes rounding. He placed his hand over his chest and began massaging it.

"Dad?" Savannah asked before turning to Charlie.

"Please, don't - get a - heart attack," Charlie softly muttered, her eyes begging.

Guardian Angel: 'This is it, Charlie. This is the day you are going to use your trust fund.'

Inner Devil: 'Charlie, whatever happens, take Taylor with you!'

"Hahaha!" the governor laughed, but while he sounded happy, his face looked complicated. His eyes looked weary, and his brows were meeting! He mouthed, 'Lord, help me!'

"No wonder you kept asking about Luxford's safety! Haha! You have been hiding your granddaughter in my town!" Douglas said. "I better tighten security around here further. Better yet, get Charlie a daily police escort - What? She wants to keep a low profile?"

While that phone call was going on, everyone's eyes remained on Charlie. As for her? Charlie felt like her heart was ready to jump out of her chest.

"Babe, this is great! Your gramps know my gramps," Taylor whispered. He smiled but made a face, saying, "Grandpa is making weird faces, though."

"Well, it's good that my grandson is her personal bodyguard. Haha! Yes, yes. My grandson, Taylor! Remember, I keep telling you about him? Yes!" The governor kept talking.

Guardian Angel: 'Charlie, don't say I told you so.'

Inner Devil: 'Oh, please, you had secret desires for Taylor too. Admit it!'

'Please, please,' Charlie thought. 'Don't tell my grandpa that Taylor is my boyfriend.'

"Yes, in fact, Charlie and Taylor are not just close friends -" The governor said on the phone.

Charlie, Inner Devil, and Guardian Angel: 'No! No! No -'

"They are actually dating! Who could have expected that? Haha! Charles?"

Douglas leaned forward, his brows meeting. "Charles, are you there?”

"Yes, yes. Charlie is actually here in

our manor. We invited her for a

family gathering - something like that." There was a short pause from Douglas before he resumed with the call. "Do you want to speak to her? Of course! Do - Oh, you'll call her. Got it. Yes, it's nice talking to you as well, Charles. Goodbye, and send my regards to your wife and your son."

The governor sounded cheerful, but his face fell as soon as the call ended. He recoiled in his seat, looking troubled, "No! I had Charles' granddaughter get slapped in my town!"

"Um. Governor, he doesn't have to know," Charlie suggested.

"Okay, what's going on?" Taylor asked. "Why are you so worked up, Grandpa?"

Before Douglas could answer, Charlie's phone rang. She already knew who was calling her late that night. She fished for her phone from her bag and said, "Can - can I be excused, please?"

"Go ahead, Charlie. Speak to your grandfather," Douglas said.

When Charlie got up, Taylor acted to follow her, but his grandfather said, "Stay, Taylor. We have something to talk about."

Charlie made her way to the pool area and answered her grandfather's call. The first thing her grandfather said was, "Charlie? Does your father know you are dating?"

Taking a deep breath, Charlie replied, “Grandpa, I tried to tell him. I - I really like Taylor, Grandpa. He is a great person..."

Charlie was talking to her maternal grandfather, Charles Eros. Like her father, Charles was also a businessman.

She told Charles about Taylor's character. Of course, she highlighted all his good side. At the end of the call, she said, "Taylor, he - he wanted me to tell Dad, but I - I was a little afraid."

"Charlie, Douglas Carrington is one

of the few politicians truly

committed to serving the people," Charles said. "We've only met a few times regarding a residential building he approved for Suncrest Valley, but I was impressed by his firm requirement to ensure the construction coexisted with and preserved the natural environment." noveldrama

"This Suncrest Valley project will continue for a few years, Charlie. I don't want complications in our relationship. I need to know if this will be a problem," Charles asked. "Construction will begin this year, and your father will meet the governor too."
