Chapter 280
"Mr. Smith, looks like you're hell-bent on covering up for your little lapdog, huh?" Alex's eyes sharpened into slits, simmering with quiet menace.
Suddenly, everything clicked into place.
It became crystal clear why Hans had strutted around so arrogantly—he had a boss even more corrupt and vile pulling his strings.
Just when Alex believed he'd witnessed Hans at his absolute worst, George proved there was a far darker abyss lurking beneath.
Rotting trees always collapse from within, and Kingston Pharmaceuticals was clearly infested with poisonous maggots like George and Hans.
If these vermin were allowed to thrive unchecked, it would spell doom-not just for quality control, but for every honest worker within the company.
They sold medicine that wasn't even approved for sale-just to stuff their own pockets.
They didn't care if it ruined the reputation of Emerald Elixir.
All the millions poured into advertising, all the effort to build something exceptional -shattered by the greed of these two parasites.
George pressed his lips into a thin, venomous line.
"I'm just doing my damn job! Who the hell do you think you are, barging in here and assaulting our employees?"
He jabbed a finger toward the floor, his voice a sinister growl.
"I'm feeling generous today, Alex. Get down on your knees, grovel and beg Hans for forgiveness. Let him slap some sense into your arrogant face. Otherwise, I'll personally make sure you rot behind bars!"
"Is this really how you want to play it?" Alex shot back coldly, daring George with an unflinching stare.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" George exploded, his voice echoing like a cannon shot. "Get on your knees now!"
Hans couldn't hide his twisted delight, jeering smugly, "You heard him, Alex! Kneel down like the dog you are!"
Clara's lips curled into a mocking smirk, her voice dripping venom.
"Honestly, Alex, why'd you stick your nose where it didn't belong? This humiliation is exactly what you deserve for meddling!"
Alex didn't waste another breath on these vipers. Instead, with calculated
calmness, he raised a hand, snapping his fingers crisply.
"What are you doing?"
"Calling backup."
George burst into mocking laughter, eyes wide with disbelief.
"Backup? Are you serious? Kid, you really don't get it, do you? This is my territory! Who in the hell could possibly come to your rescue here?"
But suddenly, the doors burst open, and a chilling silence swept through the room as about ten men entered, clad entirely in black.
Each face was carved from stone, expressions severe, eyes colder than winter frost.
Workers nearby blanched, their blood turning to ice in their veins.
Some instinctively backed away, while others, panicked, dashed toward their tables.
These men weren't the police-they were far worse. Kingston Pharmaceuticals' Discipline Division.
Infamous for ruthless efficiency, they dealt swiftly and mercilessly with anyone who stepped out of line-guilty or not.
Their mere presence signaled disaster, doom incarnate marching through their door.
George swallowed hard, sensing doom tightening around his neck.
Forcing a shaky smile, he nervously approached them, voice trembling. "Gentlemen, what... what's brought you here?"
Ignoring him entirely, their leader strode directly to Alex, respectful but lethal.
"Where shall we start?"
Alex nodded coolly, "Begin with Hans and George. I'm certain more vermin will crawl out once you start squeezing, but these two are the root."
Instantly, the black-clad enforcers advanced toward Hans and George like executioners preparing for judgment.
"Gentlemen, we have plenty to discuss privately in the office. Come quietly." George recoiled, defiance rising desperately in his voice.
"Hold on! Who the hell do you think you are, hauling me away because of this nobody? He stormed in here disrupting company business!"
The Division leader turned, eyes piercing George like sharpened blades.
"Are you absolutely certain he's the troublemaker here, Mr. Smith?"
George's reply was quick, defensive, but trembled at the edges.
"Of course I'm certain!"
The man's eyes narrowed, his voice dangerously calm.
"And do you have any idea who this 'nobody' really is?"
George, desperation overriding caution, doubled down in false bravado.
"It doesn't matter who he is! He's trespassed, he's attacked our people, and he's
disrupted business! Justice demands punishment!"
The Discipline Division leader's lip curled slightly, voice dropping to a lethal whisper.
"Oh, there will certainly be justice, Mr. Smith-but perhaps not the kind you expect."
"Alright then, I suppose you deserve to know," the Discipline officer announced coldly.
His eyes darkened dangerously as he gestured toward Alex. "The man you've accused of disrupting your precious business happens to be none other than Kingston Pharmaceuticals' chief physician and the creator of the Emerald Elixir- Alex himself!"
His words crashed over the crowd like thunder, igniting chaos. Gasps rippled outward, murmurs growing into shouts of disbelief.
"Impossible!" George staggered backward, face pale, every ounce of arrogance evaporating like mist beneath a blazing sun.
His heart thudded violently in his chest. He'd heard the rumors-the elusive genius behind the Emerald Elixir was someone named Alex but he dismissed them, believing Alex to be nothing more than a spoiled playboy who spent his days lounging around, leeching off Jasmine's
favor.
"Th—this can't be! He's the Alex?" Hans stammered, eyes bulging grotesquely as
panic surged through him.noveldrama
His bravado crumbled instantly, leaving him visibly trembling.
This was no small misstep-this was catastrophic.
They were standing on the edge of disaster, and they'd just leapt headlong into
the abyss.
The Discipline officer stepped closer, his presence looming like a reaper over George.
"Now, Mr. Smith, I'll give you one last chance. Are you absolutely certain it was Chief Alex causing trouble?"
George's mouth twisted, his eyes darting desperately around as sweat trickled down his temples.
"Ah...well...perhaps...perhaps there's been some misunderstanding."
"A misunderstanding?" The officer's voice dripped with sarcasm, colder than steel.
"And what exactly do you believe Mr. Alex was doing here then?" George swallowed hard, the cogs of his mind spinning frantically.
Suddenly, inspiration struck, and he turned viciously on Hans.
"Yes, now I see clearly! It was Hans-this incompetent fool stole the company's products just like Alex accused! He was caught red-handed!"
Hans recoiled as if slapped, betrayal slicing deep into his soul.
"Mr. Smith—wait, please— haven't you..."
"Shut your filthy mouth!"
George roared, landing a stinging slap across Hans' face. "Useless imbecile!
Admit your wrongdoing immediately! Take responsibility for your sins, or I swear I'll crush you myself!"
Hans fell to his knees, shaking uncontrollably as humiliation and terror overwhelmed him.
"Yes—yes, I was wrong, terribly wrong, please forgive me, Mr. Smith! I'll never do
it again!" George growled fiercely, turning Hans' face sharply toward Alex.
"Don't grovel to me, you worthless trash! Beg forgiveness from Chief Alex, now!"
"Chief Alex! Please, sir, have mercy!" Hans pleaded desperately, his voice cracking.
"Forgive me, I'm begging you! It won't happen again, I swear!"
Alex regarded the pitiful scene coldly, then turned his icy gaze to George, his voice cutting like a razor blade.
"If you'd admitted your mistake the moment I gave you the chance, perhaps I'd have let this slide. But now? What a clever rat you are, Mr. Smith throwing your underling under the wheels to save your own worthless hide. Do you honestly believe you'll walk away unscathed?"
George's brows knitted tightly together, confusion masking his panic. "Chief Alex,
surely there's a misunderstanding here—”
"Do you think I'm blind to your schemes?" Alex interrupted sharply, his eyes
blazing with contempt.
"You're finished. You'll be fired and jailed, that much is certain."
"Chief, you're joking!" George's voice trembled with outrage and desperation.
"I've given thirty years of my blood, sweat, and tears to this company! You've been
chief for barely a month-how dare you fire me? Please reconsider!"
"You made your bed the moment you chose corruption over loyalty," Alex
snapped.
He turned calmly, signaling to the discipline guards. "Take him."
"Chief!" George roared, veins popping in his neck as he resisted.
"This is insane! You can't destroy my life's work because of Hans' mistake! Do you
realize how the employees will see this?"
"I'll report you to the union-I have influence there! The workers will strike! Your
precious Kingston Pharmaceuticals will grind to a halt without me!"
Alex burst into a mocking laugh, the sound sharp and chilling. "Threatening me now, George? Do you honestly think you hold any power here?"
He stepped closer, each word punctuated by icy menace.
"Allow me to clarify something. I'm not just firing you-I'm sending you straight to prison. I've got mountains of evidence-every dirty deal, every backdoor arrangement you've ever made. You'll rot behind bars for life!"
George's mask shattered completely, exposing raw hatred as he screamed, spittle
flying from his lips.
"You arrogant little parasite! You're nothing but a pretty boy, a worthless
leech! You should have kept your mouth shut and kept collecting your paycheck! When the union finds out about this, Kingston Pharmaceuticals will burn to ashes! Mark my words, you'll regret this!"
What do you think?
