Chapter 59 The Self–Deceiving Woman
The sales assistant, both surprised and delighted, hurriedly packed the necklace and completed the payment. She feared Adrian might change his mind. After all, the necklace was expensive, and she stood to earn a hefty commission.
Not far away, Germaine’s heart skipped a beat. Wasn’t this the same necklace she had set her eyes. earlier but decided against buying due to its steep price? Could it be that Adrian was buying it as a birthday gift for her?

Germaine’s heart filled with excitement when she recalled it was her birthday today. She quickly turned and left.
She decided it was best to act surprised when receiving the gift. In the past, Adrian had always given her small gifts or allowed her a day off on her birthday if he wasn’t too busy.
Back at the office, Germaine went about with her usual tasks–organizing Adrian’s schedule, preparing meeting materials, and sorting urgent documents based on their importance. She even made sure to cut fruits for Adrian and brew him coffee.
All day long, she was filled with anticipation. She stayed close to Adrian in the hopes of receiving the gift, but not a single word unrelated to work came from him.
Gradually, disappointment set in, and she began to wonder if the necklace was not meant for her. “Happy Birthday, Germaine!”
At 2:00 pm, Corey walked in with a delicate birthday cake.
Hearing his voice, Adrian looked up, and Germaine turned toward them, locking eyes with Adrian.
Only then did she realize he had completely forgotten her birthday.
Prompted by Corey’s greeting, Adrian seemed to remember. “Happy Birthday, Germaine,” he said, before returning to his work.
Germaine’s heart was a whirlwind of emotions. Bitterness was concealed behind her smile as she thanked him. Yet, inside, she was heartbroken,
The rest of the day felt long and draining, her earlier excitement now replaced by disillusionment. Adrian had kept the necklace in the car. He didn’t intend to give it to Farrah at the office.
After work, he returned home with the necklace.
It was a Friday, so Adrian and Farrah were expected at Locke Manor for dinner, as they had promised Philip. They had already agreed to meet at their apartment first before heading out together. Farrah had taken the bus home, so she arrived later than him.
As soon as she walked in, she noticed him sitting on the couch, holding a bag. He stood up and handed it to her, saying, “This is for you, a little something to thank you for the help yesterday.”
Farrah looked at him in surprise. She went closer to him and asked, “What is it?”
“A necklace,” he said casually. “Just something I picked up.”
She walked up to him and took the bag, noticing how well–wrapped and luxurious it was. Looking up at him with curiosity, she asked, “Did you choose it yourself?”
His brows furrowed slightly as he answered coldly. “Whether I picked it out or not, it’s just a token of appreciation for yesterday’s help. Don’t overthink it. I’m not interested in you, and I’m never going to fall in

love with you.
With that, he turned and walked toward the balcony with his hands in his pockets.
Watching his retreating figure, Farrah, not one to back down, called after him, “You don’t need to keep repeating yourself! We already agreed on this, and just so you know, I’m not going to fall in love with you
either!”
She took the necklace and went into the guest bedroom, leaving Adrian with nothing but the sight of her firm, graceful exit. His gaze darkened. Was she not interested in him?
He waited on the balcony for around five minutes, which was enough time for her to change into a new outfit.
When she emerged, her whole demeanor seemed to change. She was now dressed in a sleek, white, French–inspired dress that accentuated her figure perfectly. She looked simple yet elegant.
“We can go now,” Farrah called out, breaking his trance
Adrian had been momentarily taken aback by how stunning she looked. He sized her up carefully. “There’s no need to put in the effort to impress my mother. She’ll like you.”
“You’ve already told me that twice,” she shot back, rolling her eyes. “I’m just an average woman. It’s normal for some people not to like me. I wear what I want to wear for myself, not to win approval Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Besides, I’m already married to you. Whether she approves of me or not doesn’t matter.”

Adrian found himself staring at her a little longer than he intended. This woman had a lot to say.
Without responding, he turned on his heel and started walking toward the door. Farrah followed closely behind while grinning.
