Chapter 1336
Molly's call finally got through, but her laptop kept spinning, the results site still jammed with anxious students. "Hey, Mia! What did you get? I can't even log in yet-did you see your score?"
Meanwhile, Leo's little partner-in-crime, Anya, snuck over to whisper to her aunt, "Auntie, you scored 380! Chad checked last year's cut-off-you've got a great shot."
Barely had she hit send when Leo appeared behind his girlfriend. "Little traitor, do you know what happens to someone who betrays me?"
Anya spun around, startled. "Chad, weren't you just in the study?"
Leo grinned. "I came out to catch a traitor."
Anya stuck out her tongue. "If I unsend the message, do I get my title back?"
Leo pinched her cheek. "You tell me."
He didn't wait for an answer, just leaned in and stole a kiss, grinning at her flustered look.
Mia already knew her score. Over the moon, she jumped up and threw her arms around her husband. “Honey, I don't have to go overseas; I don't have to leave you!"
Henry, meanwhile, had been disciplined by his parents and sent to the corner for some "deep reflection."
As soon as Hansen heard about his daughter-in-law's score, he didn't even wait to see her-her reward was already on its way. Mia blushed. "Dad, I still have to pass interviews and all that. What if I don't make it through?"
Hansen waved her off. "Nonsense! The reward is for your score. When the offer letter comes, there's more where that came from. What are you worried about, Mia?"
The Irvin family was just as proud. "If Mia really puts her mind to it, she's smart as a whip," Mrs. Irvin said.noveldrama
Andre nodded. "Yeah, just like Henry-acts clueless, but sharp as anything."
Henry got scooped up by his uncle. "Hey, kiddo, did they spank you again?"
"Uncle Cooper!" Henry burst into tears, immediately switching to his best puppy- dog eyes. "They're being mean to me!"
Cooper cuddled him, took him outside for a pep talk, and returned later with Henry sporting a brand-new toy, grinning ear to ear before dashing off again. When dinner rolled around, the whole family had to go on a kid-hunt.
Because Mia had done so well, Andre, for once, suggested a joint family celebration.
Cooper teased, "Bro, why do you look like a proud dad about to throw a feast just because my sister got into grad school?"
Andre shot back, "If your sister hits you again, I'll let it slide."
Cooper just grinned. "You win."
Mia knew that during her months of studying, her mischievous son had nearly driven everyone up the wall.
At the dinner table, Leo snagged two drumsticks-one for Anya and one for his little brother.
Molly burst into the private dining room, practically vibrating with excitement. She gave Mia a bear hug and whispered, "Mia, keep working hard! If married life ever gets too much for me and I need a divorce, I'm counting on you!"
Mia jabbed her playfully. "Hey, Chad has a law degree too, remember?"
Molly glanced at her husband, who was cradling their son and giving her a sly, knowing look. Then she looked back at Mia, who was clearly loving the spectacle. "Don't look at me! I can't handle him."
She bit her lip and slid sheepishly next to Chad. "Hey, babe, I was just telling Mia that if our company ever gets sued, we'll need her help."
Chad raised an eyebrow. "Oh, is that what you said? Because I could've sworn it sounded like you'd need her if you ever wanted a divorce."
Molly gulped. "You're twisting my words! Apologize!"
Chad just smiled and let her squirm.
What do you think?
