David lowered his gaze, his expression unreadable, void of any emotion. He remained utterly calm. There was no joy of impending fatherhood, no particular attachment to the child in Elizabeth womb. What occupied his mind instead was Caroline her feelings and situation.

Even though, before coming here, he had just argued with Caroline at the Ellison residence, he had seen the desolation and sorrow in her eyes.

In David mind, Caroline trying to stop him from visiting Elizabeth was nothing more than irrational jealousy. She lacked the gentleness of a proper wife, and her thinking was far from shrewd. Because... David had never truly decided that Elizabeth should keep the child. He had only come to check on the situation. Unfortunately, Caroline would never understand his thoughts.

"You terminate the pregnancy and cut ties with me. In return, whatever you ask for, I will give you," David -stated plainly, as if negotiating a business deal. "Our situation will remain private. Your reputation will

remain intact. You will still be free to marry, have children, and live your life as if none of this ever happened."

He was cutting all ties with Elizabeth, wiping everything clean as if nothing had ever happened! How could Elizabeth possibly accept that!

"Mr. Ellison, how can you so easily say... terminate the pregnancy?" Elizabeth asked, "Even a tiger wouldn't eat its own cub. This is your flesh and blood!"

"But it will be your burden, and my complication."

Elizabeth head shook violently. "No! He is not a burden, he is my life... Mr. Ellison, it's you who thinks this child is a burden to you!"
