Chapter 853
Chapter 853:
“Focus on your family. Don’t worry about him,” Bryan said, as he prepared milk for Gabriela.
Gabriela stood barefoot, tiptoeing with excitement as she watched Bryan prepare her milk. “Daddy, want milk!” she exclaimed.
Lost in conversation with Eileen, Bryan was slow in preparing the milk for Gabriela, which frustrated her. She stamped her foot and demanded, “Daddy, take care of me first! Mommy’s not important!”
Bryan quickly covered her mouth to silence her. Gabriela’s big eyes widened in confusion, blinking.
Bryan handed Gabriela the milk, scooped her up, and whispered, “If you want a little brother or sister, your mommy is very important.” Gabriela sipped her milk, listening intently, her wide eyes locked on Bryan’s.
Eileen’s patience was wearing thin. She urgently needed evidence to secure her mother’s rightful place in the family cemetery.
Previously, Eileen had proceeded with caution, avoiding raising suspicions. However, her efforts to obtain hair samples from Jessica for a DNA test had ultimately revealed that she and Jessica were not biologically related. The complex web surrounding the matter was overwhelming, fueling her anxiety.
Lost in thought, Eileen sat by the window, tuning out the conversation between Bryan and Gabriela.
The next day, at VQ Group, Eileen and Bryan arrived, and an assistant promptly informed Eileen that Conroy had requested her presence.
“Why does Mr. Finch want to see me?” Eileen asked Conroy’s assistant, Baylor.

Baylor’s expression remained neutral. “You’ll find out when you see him, Miss Curtis.”
With that, he opened the door to Conroy’s office and offered a courteous smile. Eileen nodded politely and stepped inside.
“Eileen, welcome,” Conroy said warmly as he led her to sit on the sofa before sitting down himself.
As they sat together, Eileen felt a shiver of unease at the unfamiliar proximity to Conroy. “Mr. Finch, what do you need from me?” she asked.
“No need for formalities,” Conroy said, his voice gentle. “I want to apologize for Jessica’s actions. She won’t be returning to the VQ Group, so I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive her. As your father, I’m asking you for this one favor.”
Father?
The word sounded strange coming from Conroy, making Eileen squirm with discomfort.
Eileen subtly shifted away, creating more space between them.
“I don’t harbor grudges, but my memory is impeccable,” she said.
Conroy’s smile wavered for a moment before he regained his composure. “Has Mr. Dawson been attentive and taken good care of you during your hospital stay?”
“Yes,” Eileen nodded. “Luckily, it was my left hand that got hurt. If it had been my right, that would’ve been a real problem.”
Conroy’s expression showed concern.
“Even with just your left hand injured, it must be quite challenging for you. How did Mr. Dawson assist you with daily tasks? And what about personal care, like using the bathroom? Were you able to bathe and take care of yourself? After all, Mr. Dawson is already busy taking care of his child.”
