Chapter 1320
Chapter 1320:
After a few calls, the replies from her friends were unanimous. They all said that she was lucky.
They gushed over the fact that her grandson and granddaughter-in-law were willing to take her with them for Christmas.
Feeling pleased, Stella sent messages to the people who usually visited her at Christmas, telling them not to come this year. For those she wasn’t particularly close to, she had the servants inform them of her absence when they came to visit.
In the evening, before Eileen and Bryan left, Stella told them she agreed to go to the apartment to spend Christmas with them. After hearing that, Eileen felt a weight lift off her heart. She began making a list of essentials to purchase and dishes to prepare to ensure that everyone had a wonderful holiday.
Bryan proposed a supermarket trip for the next day, emphasizing action over contemplation. They needed to deliver everything to the apartment in advance and clean it. All of this should take no more than three days, meaning they could move in before Christmas Eve.
Eileen agreed. But the next morning, just as Eileen and Bryan had finished breakfast and were about to go to the supermarket, the doorbell rang.
Ruby was tidying up in the kitchen, and Leyla was slowly following Gabriela, who had opened the door.
On the doorstep, a pair of bright eyes met theirs for a few seconds. Leyla was the first to break the silence. “Who are you looking for?”
Roderick paused, double-checked the villa number, and then inquired, “Does Eileen still live here?”

“Yes.” When Leyla heard that Roderick was looking for Eileen, she patted Gabriela’s head and said, “Go upstairs and call your mother.”
Gabriela didn’t recognize Roderick. She nodded at Leyla and ran upstairs.
Roderick sighed in relief as Leyla invited him in. He said shyly, “Nice to meet you. You are Eileen’s grandmother, right?”
He had heard that Eileen had come back from Alverton and that her grandmother was now living with her. But when he had seen Leyla at the door, he had thought that Eileen had sold the villa and moved without telling him.
Roderick set down the gifts he had brought on the coffee table and then stood in the living room.
After thinking for a while, Leyla realized who Roderick was. “Nice to meet you. Please, sit down.”
Roderick smiled but didn’t dare sit.
“Roderick, you’re here?” Ruby emerged from the kitchen, wiping her hands, and began brewing coffee. “Please, take a seat. This is Eileen’s grandmother.”
Ruby’s presence made the atmosphere in the living room less awkward, and Roderick relaxed a bit. “No need to fuss; I just wanted to visit before Christmas. Coffee isn’t necessary.”
But Ruby still welcomed Roderick with a tray of steaming coffee, sweet treats, and a fruit platter.
