Chapter 1314
Chapter 1314:
“Aaron?” Eileen said.
Ryann nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, that’s his name. He is a nice boy and has been looking out for Adalina at university. You know how easily Adalina can be targeted, especially since she’s from out of town. I really don’t want her to get hurt.”
“University life isn’t always full of conflicts. Adalina should be meeting new people on her own. Overprotecting her might not be the best idea,” Eileen gently suggested, remembering how Adalina had often said she felt trapped by her parents’ tight grip on her social life and friendships.
Eileen wondered if Adalina actually enjoyed being classmates with Aaron and having him watch over her every day. “Why don’t you bring Adalina over for dinner sometime? It’s been ages since I last saw her. I miss her.”
“Absolutely, let’s arrange it soon. It’s not every day someone as busy as you thinks about us,” Ryann teased, noticing Denzel motioning her over. “You enjoy the party. Denzel’s calling me over now.”
Without waiting for Eileen to answer, Ryann quickly walked away.
Eileen glanced over to where Ryann went, spotting Denzel in the middle of a group of the Dawson family’s business partners. Bryan was among them, apparently wanting to support the Vance family.
“Eileen, there’s something you need to see.” Presley, disguised as a waitress, hurried over and thrust a USB drive into Eileen’s hand. “If you’re still keen on tracking down Milford, you should look at this right away.”
Eileen grasped the USB drive in her palm. If not for feeling its solid form and Presley standing right in front of her, the quick exchange would have felt like a dream. The mention of Milford made Eileen instantly cautious. She narrowed her eyes at Presley and asked, “Were you behind those pictures that ended up in my email?”
“Yes,” Presley replied, a note of pride in her voice as she saw Eileen’s interest in the matter. “I didn’t think you’d get so close to Zola’s brother. Aren’t you worried that one day he’ll turn on you?”
Lending a hand to someone ungrateful could easily backfire. She believed Milford would easily betray Eileen because of the matter of Zola.
To anyone looking in from the outside, Eileen should have kept her distance from Milford.
The USB drive suddenly felt heavier in Eileen’s grasp. Eileen asked, “Why are you giving this to me?”
“I heard you’ve been searching for Milford, so I thought I’d help you out,” Presley answered with a grin. “I could tell you where he is right now if you want.”
“I don’t want to know that,” Eileen replied. “What I do want to know is your true reason for wanting to tell me this.”
Presley’s smug smile wavered, her patience running thin. “Why all the questions? Milford’s struggling, barely surviving. If you want to know the details… you can contact me.”
With that, Presley passed Eileen a business card. “Here’s my number. Call me if you want more information.”
Presley was confident that Eileen would eventually contact her, her smile widening. However, just as Presley was about to leave, she noticed Eileen calmly shredding the business card into small pieces. Presley’s expression shifted, her face darkening and her eyes widening in disbelief as she saw Eileen’s composed demeanor.
“It seems like you need my help far more than I need to know about Milford. You’ve got three minutes to talk to me here, nothing more.” Eileen nonchalantly brushed her hair back and glanced at her phone. “If you don’t have anything useful to say, I’ll have the guards take you out of here.”
