Chapter 63 – Wedding Gift
It's been two weeks since Lyken proposed, and now, they're getting married. Yes, today is that day, and Jada could say she's more than excited. Everyone thought it would take them a few months to walk down the aisle, but when Lyken said it was in two weeks, Jada agreed. There's no reason not to. 'He loves me, and I feel the same for him. Why should we drag? In all honesty, I've never felt this happy before. Not since Lyken became my boyfriend.' When Jada and Lyken broke up, she thought they couldn't fix things between them. But thanks to the power of forgiveness, they are where they are now. Just as Demi Moore said, 'The things people do to each other, they remember. If they stay together, it's not because they forget. It's because they forgive.'
And Jada agrees with her. Whether she likes it or not, what happened between Lyken and her will be forever part of their history. That's something they can't just erase.
However, instead of seeing it as an obstacle, they should see it as a lesson learned. It's a lesson that strengthened them and their love for each other. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
While looking in the mirror, lots of memories flashed before her eyes. Some were bad, but most were unforgettable.
Her stylist had finished her hair and makeup, but Jada remained seated, still reminiscing. She was only interrupted when Honey called for her. "Ready, BFF?" her Matron of Honor asked. Jada smiled at her and nodded. Before they went out, she made sure she had her purse. She had to be sure she had it with her because it contained big news.
Standing outside the church, she can already see her groom-to-be. He's right there, in front of the altar, waiting for her.
Lyken was sizzling hot in his white suit, and the smile on his face looked like it was there permanently. Jada's not sure, however, if Lyken can still smile like that later.
Jada fall in line, last among the line of gorgeous young ladies, right behind her best friend and matron of honor. Then the wedding march started.
She can't help but peek, wanting to see Lyken's reaction as they approach the altar. When she reached him, he smiled at Jada's father as he gave Jada's to him.
They even whispered at each other, and the old man tapped his shoulder. Lyken then kissed her mother's hand before facing her.
When the priest said the magic words, Lyken pulled Jada by the waist with his other hand lifting her veil. Lyken planted a light kiss on her lips as a tear escaped his eye.
Jada immediately reached out for his cheek, wiping it away. He looked at her for several seconds before he hugged her, then everyone started clapping and cheering for them.
After the ceremony, everyone went straight to the hotel for the reception. But before Jada went to the venue, she went with Honey to their honeymoon suite first to change gowns.
She went inside the bathroom with her purse. Honey wanted to accompany her, but Jada refused. She didn't spend much time in the bathroom, anyway.
'She can't see the surprise because if she does, she will surely spoil it. I can't let that happen.'
"I miss you, baby," he whispered as he pulled her to the table assigned to them.
"Already?" She teased, and his smile widened.
"You have no idea, Ja! I'll miss you every millisecond of my life," he said sweetly, and Jada couldn't help but blush.
When the program started, Their parents gave their speeches. After them, their friends followed one after another.
Hearing their well-wishes, they can't help but shed tears. Everything they said touched Jada. And she knew that Lyken felt the same.
After their first dance as a married couple, the host announced the removal of the garter. Kobe pulled a chair for Jada and sat on it with a serious look on her face. 'Why am I suddenly feeling nervous?'
Lyken knelt in front of Jada, and carefully lifted the skirt of her gown. He traced her legs with his hands to find the garter. When he finally reached it, she saw the confused look on his face. Jada can't help but smile. Without saying anything, she shot her brows up while Lyken creased his forehead.
Jada recalled what happened in Brazil. They went there to spend two weeks at an event. On their fifth day, she felt something was going on with her. Something was not right.
Being extra careful with her health, as usual, Jada decided to ask Mama Vane if she knew any hospital near the hotel. Unfortunately, she doesn't, so Jada had no choice but to ask the receptionist. She wants to have herself checked. Ever since they arrived in Brazil, she sometimes felt dizzy or sour in her stomach. She sometimes felt the urge to throw up, but nothing comes out. Fortunately, she found a clinic, and the doctor could speak English. "What is the problem, dear?" She asked.
Jada starts telling her everything, but she only smiles at her meaningfully. Then she suggested that Jada undergo some tests.
The doctor asked her assistant to draw blood and asked Jada to provide a urine sample too. After that, she told Jada to wait in the lounge.
After almost an hour, the nurse came back with Jada's results and handed them over to the doctor. She looked through it, creasing her forehead from time to time, and in the end, she smiled. "Are you feeling any tingling sensation around your nipples?"
"I sometimes do, yes," she answered though she was wondering why the doctor was curious about her nipples.
"The tingling sensation, the upset stomach, and dizzy spells are all signs of pregnancy Miss. When was your last period?"
Jada was momentarily shocked. 'Signs of pregnancy? I'm pregnant? Is she joking?'
"Can you recall?" she asked again.
She got back to her senses and realized that the doctor was serious about what she said. Jada told her when she had her last period and the doctor looked at her calendar.
"If you're correct then it's safe to say that you are seven weeks pregnant Miss," the doctor informed her, still smiling.
Jada felt cold. Not because she was scared that she was pregnant but because she can't contain the joy she was feeling. 'Lyken and I are having a baby?'
"C-can I see my baby already? I mean this early?"
"Yeah, of course, we can do an ultrasound," then she led her inside a room where she asked her to sit down.
The doctor called the nurse and asked her to get water. When the nurse came back, the doctor asked Jada to drink two glasses of water.
"Lay down, for now, I'll come back for you. We'll have to wait for an hour or so. Your bladder needs to be full but you can't go to the restroom. You can take a nap while waiting."
Because the room temperature was very inviting, Jada fell asleep. She only woke up when she felt someone lifting her blouse. She was surprised at first but calmed down when she realized it was the doctor.

She applied a cold gel to the probe and asked her, "Ready?" when Jada nodded, she placed the probe on her navel.
"Look here," pointing at the monitor, she smiled as she pointed at a small circle right in the middle. "That's your baby right there," she said.
A tear escaped Jada's eye after hearing what the doctor said. Slightly lifting her head, she looked closely at the monitor to see her baby.
"Everything's normal and yes, you're at seven weeks. Congratulations Miss Cuevas!" She informed her. "Do you want to print the image?"
Jada quickly nodded at the doctor with a smile painted on her face. Placing the image inside her purse, she hugged it as she walk to the side of the road.
After hailing a cab, Jada took out the image again to look at it. She still can't believe that a human being is starting to grow inside her. She feels marvelous.
And yes, the cause of Lyken's confusion as he touches the garter is their baby's picture. She slip it there when they changed their gowns earlier.
When he pulled out the piece of paper, his eyes grew wide. "W-What's this?" he asked, stuttering.
"That's my Lyken junior," she spilled.
He suddenly bowed with his face on her lap and started sobbing as he hug her legs. Their parents quickly approached them, wondering what happened and why he was crying all of a sudden. "Why, baby? Aren't you happy?" Jada asked but he just shook his head.
"I'm very happy Ja. I don't know how I'm this lucky when I've been nothing but an asshole to you," he stated, wiping his tears.
"Sshhh. I love you, Ly. Let's not go back on that," she whispered as she help him wipe his tears.
"What's the matter son?" his mother asked.
Without saying a word, he passed the paper to her. His father and Jada's parents looked closely. They all gasped when they realized what was it.
"We're grandparents now!" Lyken's mom exclaimed, then she started tearing along with Jada's mother.
