Seven Years of Love Seven Minutes of Truth

Seven Years Of Love, 44

Alex reached out to me casually, as if I'd just returned from a routine vacation.

"Still angry? Can we reconcile?"

I frowned, staring at him motionlessly.

"I was wrong about this. I apologize." He habitually squeezed my fingers, and my eyes slowly traced down his hands.

Initially, I had so many questions - why me, why five years.

But then I realized many questions were meaningless now.

"Alex, we've been over for a long time."

"I already set you free. You don't need to pretend anymore, don't need to worry about disappearing gracefully."

Though I could no longer distinguish where your pretense ended and sincerity began.noveldrama

"I never agreed to your decision..."

"Your agreement wasn't needed, just like I never agreed to you entering my life that way!"

Time heals wounds, but it needs so much time.

One year one year of sleepless nights – wasn't enough to fade these scars.

"Please don't seek me out anymore. I'm begging you." I stepped backward. “This is the most dignified ending for us."

"What if-" he stepped closer, gently wiping tears from my eyes, “I refuse to accept that?"

I hadn't considered this possibility, so I scrambled for a response.

He suddenly laughed silently, covering my anxious, darting eyes with his hand: "Don't be afraid. I won't do that to you."

"But Emma, you still owe me one wish, if you're willing."

"I promise you, between us..."

He couldn't finish, couldn't speak words of final separation.

I should have expected this step, but kept delaying, hoping to find another way out.
