Chapter 1309
Chapter 1309:
“Kellan, I’m your father. Even if I haven’t done much for you, I’ve worked hard all these years, haven’t I? When your mother passed away, I helped you manage the shares. You would have been tricked if it weren’t for me. And yet, you’re still willing to send me to prison?”
When a predator found itself at a disadvantage, it would instinctively feign weakness, hoping to stir pity in others. But Kellan wasn’t one to be manipulated.
“Don’t you find it ridiculous that you’re saying all of this?” Kellan’s eyes narrowed.
Brook had always been a bully, exploiting his power over others. Now, without his leverage, he was no better than an ant.
“It’s not me arresting you, Brook. It’s the law and justice.”
“You!” Brook’s face twisted with rage.
As Kellan remained unyielding, Brook cursed him furiously.
“You’ll regret this, Kellan! You’re sending your own father to prison. God will punish you! Just you wait!”
As his words grew more venomous, the investigator swiftly moved to escort him away.
“Mr. Lloyd, Ms. Clarke, thank you for providing the evidence.” The investigator tucked the arrest warrant away.
The investigator admired their choice to side with justice over family ties.
“We’ll be taking Brook with us. If everything goes according to plan, he’ll be serving at least thirty years.”
Kellan hummed in acknowledgement, his voice low. Despite everything, he didn’t feel the joy of victory.
It was more like a quiet sense of peace. It felt like he had been waiting for this moment for years. He was no longer the one who would give in when threatened and manipulated by his father.
“Let’s go home.”
Allison lifted her gaze and slipped her hand into his.
“Kinslee must miss us a lot.”
Kellan tightened his grip on her hand.
“Okay, let’s go home.”
He had never felt this calm before.
After packing their things, Allison and Kellan set off to visit Kinslee and Lorna.
Floyd, having heard that they had returned, hurried to the Lloyd family estate.
“You’re finally back.” He smirked playfully. “I heard you caused quite a stir in Vrining.”
Though his smile remained, there was a hidden bitterness beneath it. He was unaware of the whole story from beginning to end. It seemed that in Allison’s heart, he wasn’t as important as he had thought.
But Floyd wasn’t as stubborn as Gordon. Despite having pursued Allison for years and still holding on to some feelings for her, he had always maintained a respectful distance. He knew that the past, the time they spent in Leswington, was gone. Allison had someone new in her life now.
“You’re exaggerating,” Allison responded with a lighthearted smile. “How are Kinslee and Lorna?”
“They’re doing much better. Don’t worry, I’m here to make sure nothing goes wrong.”
Floyd spoke confidently, though his attention was diverted when he noticed the sparkling ring on Allison’s finger.
