But after a brief pause, Brook stood up and said, “Actually, I’ll go check on him myself.”

The events of the day made him realize that fixing things with Kellan would be a lot harder than he thought.

As they were heading downstairs, they ran into Kellan and Allison.

Nova smiled warmly and asked, “I didn’t see you earlier, Ms. Clarke. Do you have business at the Lloyd house today?”

Before Allison could respond, Nova suddenly glanced at her, as if remembering something.

“Ms. Clarke, I heard you visited Kinslee’s nursing home once, which frightened her,” Nova said, her face showing curiosity. “Is that true?”

At these words, Kellan’s expression darkened.

“Where did you hear that?” Kellan asked, his voice tense.

The nursing home was supposed to be completely safe and secure, so news like that shouldn’t have gotten out.

There was only one explanation.

Someone inside the nursing home must have leaked the information for Nova to know about it.

Allison, however, remained calm as she looked at Nova.

“Do you have any proof of that, Mrs. Lloyd?” she asked coolly. Instead of answering directly, she seemed to be trying to get Nova to reveal more. “Spreading gossip is just like spreading rumors. I didn’t think you would be so naive, Mrs. Lloyd.” It was clear that she was mocking Nova.

Nova’s face tightened, but she quickly masked her reaction.

“Ms. Clarke, I was just making a joke. No need to take it so seriously,” Nova said, trying to lighten the mood.

She laughed softly, as if she had heard something amusing. “Don’t worry. Even if it were true, it wouldn’t matter. Everyone can see the way things are between you and Kellan. We all know you’re a couple now. So, even if you did accidentally end up at the nursing home before, he wouldn’t hold it against you.” When Nova said this, she was confident.

She knew that Brook was well aware of how tight the nursing home’s security was, to the point where nothing could get in without being reported.
