My Twins Baby 130
Alpha Liam's POV

"When are you going to find a Luna for this pack, instead of sleeping with all these damn whores?" my mother wrinkled her nose, looking at me unimpressed.
I tried not to laugh at her using that language and instead fought to keep my face expressionless. "Mother, I have plenty of time before I need to take a mate. Is it my fault that women find me irresistible?" I teased. She harrumphed. "Liam, there is such a thing as refusing them you know. Where is your self-respect? At the end of the day, there is no substance to these girls, they merely want to use you for the title of Luna and you know that. Why sleep with them when it means nothing?" she asked with a sigh "why not find a nice girl that you do like and respect?"
"Because mother, I have yet to meet any woman who hasn't looked at me and not seen the title of Luna or the amount of wealth I possess. You know full well that nobody ever sees the real me and only wants my money or the title I can give them" I said nonchalantly.
"That's not true. Just because you were rejected once' my mother tried to argue "doesn't mean you won't meet a nice girl or be able to take a chosen mate. There are such things as second-chance mates too you know" she pointed out.noveldrama
I glanced away, "All women are the same. My mate rejected me before she found out who I truly was. Once she found out my true identity, she tried to persuade me she had changed her mind. What a fake" I sneered.
"Son it pains me to see you this way. So negative when it comes to women and finding love. You know how much I loved your father" she commented wistfully "I just want the same for you."
"Father loved you too. Right until his dying breath Mother. But that kind of love is rare. You found your fated mate and both of you accepted each other" I remembered. "Your circumstances are entirely different. You didn't have to go through the pain of rejection first."
"No," she said heavily "and I wish you didn't either because I feel as though that's made such a huge impact on your life and how you regard women now. You see them as nothing more than playthings or something to distract you rather than trying to find somebody you can spend the rest of your life with. If only that girl" she scowled, looking upset "hadn't rejected you and then tried to wrangle her way back into your life, you might have turned out so differently" she added sorrowfully.
"Don't feel sorry for me" I growled, shaking my head at her. "Maryann did me a favor. If she hadn't rejected me, then I would have married her and been miserable.
"She's still single" my mother's voice is low, "word is that her relationship with the other Alpha" she hesitated. "Didn't quite work out as she expected. Is there a chance you would be willing to let bygones be bygones and perhaps..." she trailed off, a look of doubt on her face.
I almost laughed in her face. "You mean to get back together with the woman who told me I was
disgusting? No chance in hell" I said dismissively, trying not to think of my first mate, scowling down at my desk.
"Good" my mother exhaled "because you can do so much better than her son. There are plenty of women out there. You should think about hosting some sort of event so that you can meet some from the other packs."
"I don't have time," I said tersely, hating to disappoint her but not willing to back down on this ridiculous argument that came up time and time again between us, "I'm too busy strengthening the pack and making it one of the strongest in the country."
Ideally, it would be one of the strongest in the world, that was how ambitious I was.
My mother's face drooped. "There is more to life than work Liam" she sniffed disapprovingly "at the end of the day work is just that. It can't give you love and affection. Why, you hardly have time for your own mother these days" she scolded as I tried not to roll my eyes at her obvious attempt to guilt me.

"You know how important it is to make sure that our pack is heavily fortified and prepared for rope attacks. We can't risk any of our park members being hurt. We have pregnant women, children, and elderly that all have to be protected I told her solemnly. "Father always taught me that those who are weakest need to be protected the most. I am taking his advice to heart. He put his life on the line to protect his park members and I will do the same. As long as I breathe, I will try to keep everybody in this pack safe and from harm My mother's eyes shone with unshed tears. "Your father was an amazing man Liam she choked out and he would have been so proud of you and what you have achieved. But even he would agree with me that life without somebody to share it with, is a lonely life indeed," she said softly,
"I know that's how you feel, but mother, I'm not so old yet that my biological clock it ticking out, I said with some exasperation "and the pack is more important to me than my own personal life?
"That's what makes me so sad, she said quietly, her eyes going bleak "because as much as the pack takes up your life, it shouldn't wholly be it,"
I said nothing, clenching my jaw. My mother, perhaps sensing the dangerous turning of my mood, simply sighed and then gave me a kiss on the top of my head, disappearing out the door before I could say anything in reply. I sighed. I knew she worried about me, but I was doing perfectly well on my own. I glanced down at the paperwork waiting for me with a scowl and then glanced toward the window, gauging my mood. At this rate, it might be more appropriate for me to take a turn training the warriors and letting loose some of my tightly controlled anger.
"Is it safe to come in?" My beta teased, poking his head through the doorway.
"So long as you don't have anything to add to my mother's pointless discussion" I growled, giving him a pointed look.
Logan smirked, knowing full well what my mother would have wanted to discuss with me. He chuckled and shook his head at me, causing me to relax as I leaned back in the chair.
"What is it then? I can take a turn at training if Malcolm isn't up for it?" I offered, remembering it was my Gamma's turn to lead it.
"It's not that" Logan's voice was carefree "I wanted to talk to you about a request I just received from another pack."
I frowned. "A request? What kind of request? It's not another blasted marriage proposal is it?" I snarled.
I was sick of being proposed marriage through other packs seeking to merge theirs with mine. I had refused more times than I could count. Logan laughed, seeing the frustration on my face.
"No, it's nothing like that" he grinned "although it would have been worth it to see the look on your face when you read another one."
I grimaced. "Then what is it then? Another proposed treaty? Accommodation to a traveling pack member or Alpha?" I pressed.
Hardly worth mentioning. I rubbed my forehead feeling ridiculously tired. Logan cleared his throat. "Actually neither of those. This one is quite interesting. The request is a transfer from another pack" he said, pulling out a piece of paper from his pocket and handing it to me.
I glanced at the creases, sighing at my Beta's penchant to manage to crumple any papers he got his hands on, and peered at the request with interest.
"Fiona Dominion" I read, glancing at Logan thoughtfully "where have I heard that name before? It sounds familiar" I said thoughtfully.
"She's the..." Logan paused "daughter of Alpha Xander Dominion. She has a rather unique background" he said as I continued to read "which has led to her request for a transfer away from her family and to a new pack. Given the reputation of ours, she has asked to come here. Her father has gone into extensive detail into why she no longer wishes to reside at home" he grimaced "it's difficult not to feel sorry for the poor girl." 07:23 Sat, 22 Feb

"Hmm, another woman in the pack" I said with a groan "because we don't have enough already. Mother would be ecstatic" I said with a heavy dose of sarcasm.
"You could refuse" Logan pointed out "but this girl" he sighed "I feel sorr
for her. The Dominons pack is easily as strong as ours and they have helped us in the past. It would be easily enough a way for us to return the favor. I believe they were once friends of your father" he added and I nodded.
"Very well. Approve the transfer. By all intents and purposes, she won't be travelling until after her eighteenth birthday so that gives us time to prepare. However, make it clear this is a one off. I won't have repeated attempts to constantly take in pack members for the sake of it. I'm only doing this for my father's sake and as a way to thank them" I growled and then stood up, leaving abruptly while Logan nodded in the background.
I didn't want to talk anymore. I needed to go train and get some of my anger out.
