Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 834

When the real estate agent showed up with potential buyers, Greta had already stripped the house of anything valuable, trying to squeeze out its last ounce of worth. Greta and Miranda were still living there, clinging to what remained.

Greta turned beet red with anger the moment she spotted Nathalie and Dominick.

"Nathalie, I could sell this house to anyone, but I won't sell it to you," she snapped.

Nathalie looked at her with a mix of pity and indifference. "Do you even have the authority to make that call?"

Greta shook her head, smoothing her hair with an air of grace and elegance. "Greta, you've never really known your place, have you?"

Greta shot back defiantly, "My place? I am Mrs. Dawson. Of course, I have the right to decide who buys this house!"

Nathalie retorted, "Have you lost your mind? If I remember correctly, this house is part of the Dawson family estate-Cameron's property from before you were married. What gives you the right to decide on someone else's assets?"

Greta trembled with anger. "Nathalie, you're a cruel woman. Karma will catch up with you."

Nathalie, her heels clicking sharply on the floor, moved closer to Greta. She looked down at Greta's swollen, sallow face and shook her head. "Greta, the one facing karma is you. Your looks have faded, and you've lost your leverage to win any man's favor. How long do you think Cameron's money will last you? In a few years, you'll be lying alone in a rented room, bloated and despairing. Your body will rot and stink, and who knows which poor soul will have to deal with your remains?"

Greta, her legs weak with fear, clung tightly to Miranda's hand.

"Mom, look at her. Doesn't she seem like a vengeful spirit come back to haunt us?"

Miranda couldn't hold back her tears, feeling guilty towards Nathalie but too ashamed to ask for anything from her.

Yet, as a mother, she had to put on a brave face for Greta. She lowered her once proud head and pleaded, "Nathalie, please, show some mercy to your sister."

Nathalie's voice rose. "And why didn't she show Nathan any mercy?"

Miranda went silent.

In just a few months, she had aged beyond her years. Her hair had turned completely white, and her hands shook like leaves in the wind. In a happy family, she would have been enjoying her golden years. Instead, she was toiling day and

night, looking after a gravely ill Greta, never finding peace.

Nathalie noticed the rapid decline in Miranda and felt a flicker of sympathy, almost invisible but there nonetheless. After all, this was the woman she had called mother for over a decade.

But then she remembered the hefty alimony Miranda had taken from her father, and any sympathy was overshadowed by the thought that Miranda's suffering was just a result of her own foolishness and ignorance.

"You're just bones now, and you won't last much longer. You can't protect this mess forever. I'd say let go now, live a little for yourself before it's too late. Isn't it time you stopped living for everyone else?"

Miranda now feared Nathalie, listening without daring to speak up.noveldrama

But Greta, stubborn as always, refused to back down, even at this point. She blamed Nathalie for being too harsh. "Nathalie, my mom is none of your business. And I am still Mrs. Dawson. I say this house isn't for sale, so get out."

The real estate agent, sensing the tension, apologized to Nathalie. "Ashley, don't worry about her. The owner has already given me the keys and the authority to handle the sale. I've checked everything The property title is clear, and the deed only has the owner's name. He's confirmed he's divorced."
