Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 830

Regan's face was pale, and he couldn't deny it any longer-trying to take Nathan out all those years ago had been a reckless move. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine Nathan would pass on the secrets of controlling the four powerhouse families to Nathalie. And he certainly didn't expect Nathalie, whom he had always underestimated, to be such a force to be reckoned with, her smarts on par with any heir from those families.

Regan let out a hollow laugh. "I should've seen it. You're Lincoln's daughter, after all. There was no way either of you would be pushovers. I didn't give you enough credit."

Nathalie shot back, "Now that you've thrown in the towel, do you know what comes next?"

Regan looked at her, hands trembling. "Mark mentioned you plan on booting us out of Stewart Enterprises? I know how the folks at the company operate-most of them chase after profit. With you in charge, they'll be eager to curry favor by turning on our side of the family. So, I'm ready to step down."

Nathalie's expression was unmoved. "That sounds like getting off easy."

Regan paled further. "What else do you want?"

Nathalie lifted her chin, gesturing toward the manor behind him. "What do I want? I want you gone from here."

Regan's patience wore thin. "Vivian, don't push your luck."

Nathalie's voice cut through his. "Compared to your greedy, murderous ways, I'm not pushing anything."

Regan's face turned ashen again.

"The manor's mine by right. I'm not leaving," he declared shakily before turning and walking away, shoulders slumped.

Nathalie watched his hunched figure retreat, her gaze growing icier. "That's not up to you."

At the hospital, Cameron snuck out the back door, finally getting a chance to visit his father.

Since stepping away from the company, Griffin had let go of worldly pursuits, a peace that helped his recovery. At least now he was clear-minded, able to sit up in bed and chat calmly with Cameron.

"You haven't been by in a while. How's the company doing?" Griffin asked.

Cameron kept his head down, eyes glued to the floor.

Griffin continued, "There's nothing to worry about. I have faith in you. You're a whiz, after all."

With every word, Cameron's head hung lower.

"Dad, the company went under."

Griffin's expression was one of shock.

But Cameron's beaten stance made the truth unavoidable.

"Why?" Griffin asked, his voice tense.

"Greta got really sick, and I missed the id deadline... Later, I it wasnoveldrama

Griffin sat in stunned silence for a long while, finally letting out a deep sigh.

"You owed Nathalie, and now it looks like the score's settled."

"But from being born with a silver spoon to having nothing, the road ahead will be tough."

"Heh, howaronic. Cameron, you used

to look down on your first wife for her humble roots. Now you'll get a tast@of that humility yourself. It's fate's doing. Accept it."

Cameron's tired eyes held a flicker of confusion.

"I'm not afraid of hard times, but I

of everything and ridiculed by many overnight.
