Chapter 189: Makes No Sense
Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Makes No Sense
Every time Bai Fanglan was like a dead fish, but this time she was particularly enthusiastic.
So Wang Hu also felt it wasn’t bad.
He thought to himself, although she was mad at him because of what happened before, it wasn’t Bai Fanglan’s doing, and Bai Chuan wouldn’t have told her beforehand. He had been treating her poorly, finally treating her well for a couple of days, and then starting to cold shoulder her again. He felt really sorry for her, especially since he would be gone for a year.
So he was particularly attentive to her, and for the first time, Bai Fanglan felt a sense of comfort. That’s when she realized that being a woman could be such a happiness, and the two had a very harmonious night.
When Bai Fanglan woke up, Wang Hu hadn’t left yet, sleeping with his back to her.
She touched his shoulder and said softly, "I’m sorry, I was being willful before. I won’t argue with you anymore. I’ll ask my grandpa to forgive you."
Wang Hu murmured in response, not too happy, what does forgiving me mean? I did nothing wrong. This girl is actually not bad, but because of her unreliable grandpa, her values got all messed up.
He thought for a moment, turned to look at her, and held her hand: "I hope you’ll be part of the Wang Family, the wife of the Wang Family, not the Bai Family. Can you do that?"
Bai Fanglan was taken aback, does this mean he’s asking her to not be with Bai Chuan anymore?
Wang Hu looked at her again: "Can you do that? Just be my wife, not the granddaughter of the Bai Family. Your grandpa’s decisions are his own; don’t get involved with him."
Bai Fanglan bit her lip, not quite understanding what Wang Hu meant, but she figured he was dissatisfied with Bai Chuan.
"Wang Hu, do you think my grandpa did something wrong?"
"Yes," Wang Hu said seriously: "He thought by framing Gu Junming, he could help me get that position, but he never considered the harm it would do to Gu Junming. He’s an outstanding soldier too, and no one says, but I understand, that I can’t match his abilities. I can accept failure, but not undeserved success. Stabbing someone in the back and framing them is what a petty person does."
"You’re calling my grandpa a petty person? He raised me! Now that I’m married, do you want me to distance myself from him? Do you want me to be seen as an ungrateful granddaughter?" Bai Fanglan snapped upright, her chest heaving with emotion.
Wang Hu said, "Do you think what he did was right? If this wasn’t your grandpa, what would you think of this person? Or do you also believe that framing someone for your goals, regardless of the method, is acceptable?"
"But my grandpa said he’d personally clear his name afterward! It’s just a rumor about an old, faded widow; who would really believe she had something with Gu Junming? If he wanted to really ruin him, he’d have picked someone pretty. My grandpa just wanted you to beat him, not to utterly crush him." noveldrama
"Do you think that’s the quality a soldier should have? Just because you clean up later, it’s not a mistake? The reason I haven’t spoken out about your grandpa’s actions is because of you and your grandpa, and that’s already against my principles. Next time, if something like this happens, I definitely won’t overlook it."
Bai Fanglan didn’t say anything, turning her head away from Wang Hu, thinking why make a big deal out of it? It’s been so long, isn’t letting it go already? Such a stubborn, old-fashioned mindset.
Wang Hu didn’t want to stop speaking to Bai Fanglan, feeling very disappointed. At this point, she still thinks he’s making a big deal out of nothing? This is a basic moral issue!
After a while, Bai Fanglan said: "I’m sorry, my grandpa indeed didn’t handle this well, I’ll talk to him. I’ll ask him not to target Gu Junming anymore."
"Okay. After I leave, you stay at home. As for your grandpa, I hope he won’t interfere with my matters anymore. My career, I still want to rely on my own efforts." Wang Hu said as he picked up his jacket, putting it on as he walked out.
Bai Fanglan grabbed his pillow and threw it hard to the ground, then lay back down. She felt so upset, she actually knew what her grandpa did was wrong, but since it was against Gu Junming, she felt it was just his bad luck. They were so proud, so even if things went wrong once, so what? Can all the good things happen to them?
Forget it, she didn’t want to think about it anymore. Could he actually divorce her over this? She’d talk to her grandpa after Wang Hu left.
Meanwhile, Sun Chan started being busy after Gu Junming returned to the army. Besides continuing to sell fruit, in March, she started going to a nearby middle school’s ninth grade to attend a few classes a week.
This was arranged with Gu Junming’s help. She wore a cotton-padded jacket, tied her hair into a ponytail, and carried a homemade cloth bag, sitting in the back row of the classroom. Attending a few classes like this allowed her to study more systematically.
Many students were curious, not knowing what she was doing, older than most of them, not looking like a teacher either.
Sun Chan felt a bit embarrassed at first, but got used to it over time. After all, she was there to learn.
Chemistry was relatively easy to learn, as it starts in ninth grade, but physics began in eighth grade, making it a bit challenging. There were many things she didn’t understand, but listening like this was far better than blindly figuring things out at home. When Gu Junming returned, he could also help explain things to her.
Many students were curious about Sun Chan, but no one intended to get too familiar with her, although someone did target her.
Because Sun Chan was an adult and dressed well, one look and she seemed well-off.
This noon, as Sun Chan prepared to head home, whten she reached the school gate, someone stopped her.
"Stop right there."
Sun Chan looked up to see a few ninth-grade girls, all tall and imposing, with the leader half a head taller than her.
"Do you need something?" Sun Chan instinctively stepped back a few steps, sensing these girls were up to no good.
"What are you doing here?" the leading girl asked.
"I’m just here to attend classes."
A girl behind them snickered, "Are you repeating a grade? You look so clueless."
Sun Chan didn’t want to argue with her and didn’t want to say more, intending to step around them.
But the leading girl blocked her: "Did I say you could leave?"
"What do you want?" Sun Chan frowned.
"We want to go to the store outside, but we’re out of money. Give us some." The girl held out her hand.
Sun Chan frowned at her, wondering why this girl was acting like some hooligan or thug, trying to rob her money.
What do you think?
