abroad too. It's rare for me to be so eager to learn. Isn't that enough for you?"
Helen glanced awkwardly at Xavier and said, dissatisfied, "Xavier, do you really think of me like that? I'm your own sister! The reason I want to go abroad is that Yasmine actually advanced in the Dekker Competition. I feel I'm better than her. I want to study psychology Xavier knew his sister all too well; if she said she wanted to study, something was off. He didn't miss the panic in her eyes. "Tell me, what's really going on?"
"Nothing! There's nothing going on! Why are you asking me that, bro?"
"I know you best. If you don't tell me the real reason, there's no way I'm letting you go abroad," Xavier said with a stern face. Helen didn't expect her brother to see through her so quickly. She pursed her lips. "It's okay if you won't send me abroad. I'll talk to Mom. She'll definitely agree." Xavier said softly. "If you don't tell me, I guarantee Mom won't agree either."
"Why not? Xavier, I just want to study. Yasmine can go compete in the Dekker, so why can't I? I have to go abroad quickly. Who knows how long it'll be before Dalton is discovered, and once he is, there's no telling what clues might lead back to me." Xavier didn't have time to listen to her babbling. He waved his hand and focused back on the computer in front of him. "Fine, don't say anything. Just go home."
"Xavier!" Since she masterminded Yasmine's kidnapping and tried to flee abroad, her grandpa had already revoked her passport. Now, her only hope of escaping Soucrity was her brother. "I'm begging you, this time it's really serious!" Her eyes reddened as she stared intently at Xavier. "Speak" His face darkened. Judging by Helen's nervous demeanor, this incident was definitely bigger than before. It had to be something serious, given how panicked she looked.
Helen grinted her teeth and balled her fists. "I... I may have killed someone!"
"What?" Xavier jumped up, staring at Helen in disbelief. "You'd better explain everything in detail."
Helen's eyes flickered with complexity, but she chose to omit the parts that could hurt her case. "I met someone at a bar, and he tried to harass me, to take advantage of me. I lost control and stabbed him in the stomach with a knife." "A knife? Where'd you get it?"
"It was-no, it was his, his Xavier, I didn't mean to! When I saw him lying there in a pool of blood, I was scared to death. But 1 never intended to kill him!" Helen cried uncontrollably.
"He is dead?
Helen thought for a moment and shook her head. "I don't know if he's dead. I didn't see it happen
Xavier, on the other hand, regained his composure and said seriously, "Then what are you afraid of? If it's like you said, it's self-defense. There's no need to flee the country just lure a good lawyer, and it he's not dead, all the better?
Helen's face turned pale. She could never tell her brother that she killed because she was being blackmailed with mude photos "Xavier, just get me out of here. I can't stay I'm terrified whenever I see the polise Helen subbed uncontrollably. clinging to Xavier's arm Xavier had no clue what she was truly thinking, so he tried to comfurther "Let's go home Grandpa wont let you leave theNôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

country." After the last incident, Nathan's opinion of Helen had plummeted. Not only did he revoke her passport, but he also cut her allowance considerably, though Xavier had felt sorry for her and given her some money.
Helen hadn't expected her brother to refuse so outrightly. She thought,
As time ticked by, after dinner, Helen went back to her room and started looking through the messages on her phone again. Just as she was about to unlock the screen, a ring startled her. She glanced at the incoming number and hesitated to answer. Ding dong! A message came through. She clicked it open and saw threatening words. [I know what you've done. I'm Dalton.] Dalton? Wasn't he dead? She had clearly seen him fall into a pool of blood, watched his eyes close right before her eyes. Another message came in. [Answer the call.]
A few seconds later, the phone rang again. Nervously, she answered and put it on speaker. From the other end came a weak voice. "I never imagined you'd try to kill me! But let me tell you, the memory card is with someone I trust. If anything happens to me, they'll send the video out immediately."
"Despicable. You brought this on yourself. You wanted money, and I gave it to you, I even planned to give you the rest in three days. But you? You deserve it!" Helen yelled, hanging up abruptly and turning her phone off.
Hearing Dalton's voice brought both sadness and joy. If he was dead, she worried about getting caught. If he was alive, she worried about the money.

Day seven. Today marked the seventh day of Yoselin being bedridden. She stared blankly at the ceiling, recalling how she nearly cried herself breathless on the first day. Each day was more unbearable than the last, confining her to this bed all day, except for meals and bathroom breaks.
At first, he felt like a pet trapped in a cage, always trying to find out where Yasmine was each day. Then, gradually, she started feeling like a useless person, unable to do anything. Now, she's aware of who she is, knows who Yasmine is, and who Yonas is, and recognizes most people, yet she still can't remember the kidnapping incident from three years ago. All she knows is that she was kidnapped, but everything else remains a blank.
At 6 PM, Yasmine opened Yoselin's bedroom door and smiled at her. "Yoselin, you can come out now."
Having not spoken to anyone for days, she found herself talking to herself. Besides a few words with her grandpa yesterday, she almost forgot how to express happiness. "Yasmine," she murmured, supporting herself with her arms, stretching her legs and arms as she climbed out of bed. She had been watching the door intently, and when it opened, it was as if someone had finally unlocked her chains, granting her freedom.
"Yoselin, how are you feeling?" Yasmine asked gently.
Yoselin pondered for a moment before replying, "Thank you, Yasmine." She looked at Yasmine, suddenly feeling a bit guilty. Yasmine had been so helpful to her, while her brother was off spending time with others.
Yonas was having a meal at the Paragon Hotel when Chuck had just brought a dish to the table. It was snatched away by a pair of eager hands. Just as he was about to get angry, Yonas realized it was Yoselin who had taken it. "Yoselin, you're feeling better?"
Yoselin took a deep breath and said, "Yonas, there's something I want to ask you."
