From taking Sean to the hospital and going through the registration process, seeing the doctor, getting him on an IV drip, and waiting for it to finish, it had been at least seven hours, stretching from noon until nightfall.

Nadine, who had low blood sugar, hadn't had a sip of water for more than seven hours, and her anxiety only worsened things. As soon as she stood up, her vision blurred, and she felt herself toppling forward.

She couldn't tell if it was just a figment of her imagination, but it felt as though a pair of gentle yet strong hands caught her when she was about to fall. Even through the fabric, she could feel the warmth of that person's palms. Although he wasn't hot to the touch, the feel of that person's skin sent her heart racing.

Too weak to hold herself up, she leaned against him. The familiar, fresh scent of the ocean filled her senses, and even without looking, she knew who it was. "Brad? Thank you. Please put me on the bed. I just need to lie down for a minute."

Her voice was barely a whisper, and she didn't have the strength to lift her hand to push him away. Nadine lay limply in his arms, like a fish out of water, gasping for air.

Even though Alex had advised him to leave and wait for Nadine to calm down before apologizing and clearing the air, Brad didn't want to follow his advice. He'd stood in the hallway all afternoon, chain-smoking.

He concluded that he couldn't follow Alex's advice. If he did, it would be irresponsible to Nadine and Sean. After thinking it over, he decided not to leave and quietly stood outside the hospital room, watching over them.

When he saw the nurse taking the empty IV drip away, he knew the treatment was over and Nadine would likely be leaving soon. He remembered how distressed Sean had been when they arrived and how Nadine had carried him in, practically breathless.

Considering how they had arrived, he figured that Sean would also need to be carried again when it was time to leave, so he opened the door and walked in. To his dismay, he was met with the sight of Nadine, unsteady on her feet and about to fall.

His heart leaped into his throat as he rushed over and wrapped his arms around her. When he held her delicate waist, he felt the bones beneath his touch, causing his heart to ache. He pulled the pale woman into his arms and gently chided, "Why are you so thin?"

Noticing the color drain from her lips, Brad hastily laid her down on the hospital bed and called for the nurse. The nurse, used to such、 situations, promptly handed Nadine a bottle of juice. "You have low blood sugar. Drink this, and you'll feel much better."

Nadine took the bottle but struggled to twist off the cap. Noticing that, Sean tried

to help, but Brad hastily took it from him and twisted off the cap himself. He let

Nadine lean against him while he used his left hand to feed her the juice.

After finishing the bottle of juice, Nadine felt much better. Realizing that she was still lying in Brad's arms, she immediately pushed him away ignoring her protests, he held her close and murmured, "Sean's watching. If you don't stop he'snoveldrama

going to think we're flirting."

Nadine was at a loss for words. She glared at him before shutting her eyes once more, deciding it was best to ignore him.

Half an hour later, with color back in her cheeks, Brad finally let her stand on her own. Without needing to be asked, he picked Sean up and led them out of the hospital.

The pair didn't say a word on their way back to Rose Garden. Only Sean's cheerful chatter filled the car, blissfully unaware of the tension between the adults.

Brad walked them to the entrance of their unit. He wanted to go inside, but since Nadine hadn't invited him in, he didn't want to intrude. He could only stand there with a faint smile as he watched them enter the building.

As soon as they walked through the door, the smile on his face instantly vanished. Without a moment's hesitation, he turned and drove back to Hamilton Estate.
