Chapter 750
For six long years, Nadine kept telling herself that she was just using Brad as a stand-in. But deep down, she knew better. He was never just a replacement. From the moment she married Brad, she had considered herself his wife.
Brad wore a dark blue puffer jacket that reached his knees, along with gray sweatpants and white sneakers. Brad looked less cold and more energetic than his usual business-elite self. He looked like a lively young man in his early 20s.
While she looked at him, he was also taking a good look at Nadine. She also wore a dark blue puffer jacket, light gray sweatpants, and white sneakers. Her hair was swept up into a bun, revealing her smooth, radiant forehead.
Her face, still brimming with youth, was vibrant and full of life. She looked like a freshman in college. Gone was the lifelessness that once clouded her eyes. It was now filled with light and hope, and she looked better than ever before.noveldrama
Nadine used to have a very sharp chin and appeared a little gaunt, but now she looked much healthier. If one didn't know any better, they might think she was just entering college.
When their eyes met, it felt as if they had been shocked, leading them to hastily avert their gazes. The teacher, upon noticing Brad, beamed and waved him over. "Mr. Hamilton, you're not late at all! We're just about to start, so please take your seat."
Brad nodded and took a seat next to Sean, placing their son between him and Nadine. Nadine was a cold-hearted woman who had used him and then discarded him.
Brad believed he had been nothing more than a stand-in for Jack. And now that Nadine no longer needed him, she had cast him aside without a second thought. Consequently, when he looked at Nadine, his eyes were filled with hostility.
Nadine felt a hostile gaze on her and immediately recognized who it belonged to. However, she didn't spare him a glance. Since they were divorced, they should act as if they were strangers.
It was a lovely sunny day, perfect for outdoor activities. The family event featured numerous fun games that required families to work together as a team.
The first game was called "Pass the Orange". The rules were simple: each family had to pass an orange from one person to the next using only their necks. The first person would clamp the orange between their neck and pass it to the next, who would do the same before passing it along.
Participants could only use their necks to touch the orange, while hands or other body parts were strictly prohibited. If the orange hit the ground, they had to return to the starting point and start again.
After reading the rules, Sean, standing confidently with his hands behind his back, looked at Nadine and asked, "Mommy, do you know how to play this game?"
Nadine nodded. "Of course I do! I just have to hold the orange with my neck." Even though she hadn't played it before, she was certain that once she understood the rules, she would know how to play.
Sean then turned to Brad, who was watching the others attempt the game, and asked, "Do you know how to play?"
Brad observed the families that were playing. Among them, two families had their children standing in the middle, with the first player being their mother.
The woman effortlessly clamped the orange with her neck and walked toward her child. But when she bent down to pass the orange, it didn't go
smoothly, and after a few failed attempts, the orange fell to the ground.
Once the orange hit the ground, it meant they had failed, and the woman had to return to the starting point to start over. After observing the families that had failed, Brad shifted his gaze to the little one who had asked him a question
Cocking his brow, he answered, "Of course I do! Shall we give it a go?"
What do you think?
