Chapter 690
In the beginning, Brad really disliked Nadine's behavior and repeatedly told her to stop. But it was as if his words fell on deaf ears, as she kept getting close to him anyway.
If he got mad, she would smile brightly, stand on her tiptoes, and plant a playful kiss on his chin or Adam's apple. They were both adults in their prime and legally married, so whenever she kissed him like that, the youthful Brad couldn't resist.
No matter how sweetly she smiled, he'd pin her against the desk in his study, not bothering to take off her dress-just slipping off her underwear and diving straight in. By the time they were done, she'd flung her underwear in his face and dashed into the bathroom, causing all of his earlier frustrations to melt away.
When did she stop holding his hand? When did she stop caring about his feelings? Was it because he reprimanded her with a cold expression time after time? Did it start when he brought Jean up?
As old memories resurfaced, Brad started to regret his actions. If only he had paid more attention to Nadine and been kinder with his words. Would their relationship still be like it used to be?
"I was drugged, Nad. I'm really sorry. I'll get to the bottom of this and give you an explanation."
Nadine already knew the truth and didn't need an explanation from him. All she wanted was a divorce. After taking a deep breath, she looked him straight in the eye. "I don't need you to give me an explanation. I just need you to do one thing."
A smile spread across his face when he learned that he could still do something for her. "Sure! I'll do anything for you, as long as it's not about the divorce!"
For the first time in a long while, she wasn't giving him the cold shoulder. He took it as a sign of progress in winning her back. "We're husband and wife, Nad. Could you please stop being so cold toward me?"
Despite being nearly six foot three, he looked at her expectantly like a giant puppy wagging its tail and begging for affection from its owner. He looked nothing like his usual cold and serious self.
Nadine could hardly believe her eyes. Was this really the Brad she knew? Was he trying to be both cool and charming now?
Despite his adorable demeanor, Nadine cut to the point. "I've already submitted evidence to the police; what you did was rape."noveldrama
The smile on his face froze and
eventually vanished. He looked at the woman who once only had eyes for him in disbelief. "Are you so. desperate for a divorce that you'd do this, Nad? You know I was drugged-you were, too! The drugs weren't mine!"
As he struggled to sit up in bed, Nadine pulled her hand away and held his shoulder, pushing him back down "Listen to me, Brad. I won't press charges if you agree to the divorce," she said solemnly.
"You can argue that the drugs weren't yours and that you were drugged too, but you were still the one who committed the act. I have your semen inside me and your fingerprints all over me.
"Plus, your fingerprints are on that bottle. If I insist that the bottle belongs to you, how are you going to explain yourself to the police?"
Not wanting the Hamilton family to be dragged through the mud was one thing, wanting a divorce from Brad was another. The two couldn't be mixed up.
Nadine would step up for the Hamiltons when they needed her. But that didn't mean she still loved Brad or no longer wanted a divorce.
What do you think?
